'15 US News & World Report: Institutional Rankings

Unread post by asu66 » Thu Sep 10, 2015 1:35 pm

The US News & World Report's annual institutional rankings are out and I sense a change of the "not so hot" sort. No pun intended! Although I've been retired for several years and don't follow the blow-by-blow rankings business as I once did, I can't say the US News "take" made me a happy camper concerning its view of our alma mater. IIRC from prior years, there has been slippage. Colleges of Business are sexy\ these days. Walker College of Business--not even on the radar!

There exists a very direct challenge for Chancellor Everts and our Board of Trustees. I'm certain the attack on higher ed based in Raleigh--but with very long arms--has played a role. In a no excuses environment, however, our university faculty and staff apparently have some work to do.

I must say, however, that some of our so-called "peers" have a lot more work to do. UNC-CH, for example, has fallen from its Ivory Tower. And UNCC and UNC-W. Others from the Sun Belt, are just outright embarrassing...UL-Monroe to name just one.
