Could you ever see Boone hosting a bowl game?

It would be a great way to get people to the high country. Increase tourism. And it would also add to our own program. I know it's probably not gonna happen but what are your thoughts? We could call it the Mountain Bowl or something.

I'm not sure hosting "another bowl game" in the middle of December in Boone is the best way to promote tourism. The Christmas tree farms and ski resorts seem to have that covered.

Good points. I forgot that Boone is usually cold at this time. It's just been so warm recently.

The Mast General Store Bowl.

There would be a lot of things to do for teams when they arrive early. Not likely to happen though.

I could see a quarterback breaking his leg on a ski slope two days before the game.

That would make 41 bowls with 82 teams.

No need to bring this up until after the Hickory Regional Airport (HKY) develops into a *real* entity for two or three major commercial carriers to buy in to providing daily arrival and departure passenger services. That could be a long wait with Charlotte, Asheville, Tri-Cities and Greenville-Spartanburg so close.

I've always thought an early season basketball tourney would be fun.

A really, really long wait. To my knowledge Hickory has never had more than one commercial carrier providing daily flights. The completion of the newer part of HWY 321 killed off the demand for connector flights between in HKY & CLT. After that I think it was Delta that began offering daily connectors to Atlanta, but that apparently was not profitable and they pulled out. It has been "empty" ever since, and that's been a long time. Corning Cable just announced they are moving their top execs/management from Hickory to CLT so they could be closer to the airport.

That's a possibility.

The basketball team needs to get better before we host a tournament. Unless you're OK with being the Chaminade of the tournament.
