Re: Just rolled in from Montgomery...
I have Roku and have re-watched most games on it However the last two weeks I have not been able to. The game is listed but when I go to play it, the screen goes black and the Roku player reboots. Every time. Its only happened on the App games. How the hell is that? Anyone else having that problem, or is my Roku starting to crap out? I've been thinking of getting the new one anyway.

That actually happened to me after the USA game too. I tried another game though, and got the same result. Don't normally rematch many games, so I didn't think much of it and haven't tried it since.AppinATL wrote:I have Roku and have re-watched most games on it However the last two weeks I have not been able to. Re: Just rolled in from Montgomery...
This was the 5th bowl that I've attended, and I can say without question it was absolutely the best bowl experience. App Nation turned out and gave a great showing! The differences between App's energy and activity and Ohio was just stark.
It started on Friday when the App band serenaded those of us gathered in the Aviator Bar on Friday afternoon. There really is nothing like standing in a bar in a "foreign city" packed with App fans and have the marching band stand out on the street, face the open door of the bar, and blast the nation's best fight song!
Later Friday night, App fans had taken over Ohio's Alley Bar and had the really talented live musician playing Wagon Wheel and rocking that bar with APP -> STATE.
At the Fan Fest and alumni tailgates, the App tent was wall to wall people, the Ohio tent not so much. The difference in attendance so striking I took a picture of each as comparison. I overheard the caterers talking about having to add extra runners to keep beer stocked in the App section, and only having to refill Ohio once . . .
The Ohio marching band is very impressive, no doubt, but at Fan Fest that's pretty much all Ohio did was quietly listen to their band. There were no speeches, no thanks, just the band and cheerleaders. App's band pumped the crowd, then Chancellor Everts spoke briefly thanking the city, organizers, crowd and the Alumni, turning it over to Gillin who spoke briefly as well. It demonstrates how, from top to bottom, this was more important to App Nation. I thought it was interesting that Dr Everts mentioned when the Camellia Bowl called to invite App State, they said they wanted to put App on the visitor side to get us more camera time.
It was a historic weekend, capped off with a historic performance. I cannot express how much fun I had, and how fortunate I feel to have been a part of it. Call me crazy, call me whatever, but when Matics kick sailed through the uprights, I had so much pride and joy to be a part of the Appalachian family, and to have been a part of the first bowl, I could barely get out the GO APP, FIGHT APP, of the fight song. That and I had already started losing my voice, my voice which is still scratchy today.
Merry Christmas App Nation!!! Best Christmas present EVAH!

There should be a replay available on espn3.com, just log in, go to the 3rd tab on the right that says "replays" and it should be there. I think (but don't quote me on this) replays are available for 7 days then they're gone.

So awesome for Zach Matics to be able to end the game, an awesome come back season, and his college career with a redemption kick at the end. I wouldn't be surprised to see him make an NFL roster. The man was clutch this year.

Re: Just rolled in from Montgomery...
Out group drove up from ATL that morning arriving at Lot E around 10am. What a great party it was with App tents as far as you could see. No App fan will ever forget the HUGE comeback and last second kick by Matics. I got home in ATL and watched the recorded game before I went to bed around 4:30am. That game program and ticket will be added to my office "Hall Of App" sometime this week. Can't wait until Knoxville kickoff next year!

It is hard to put the weekend in words. When the extra point sailed through the goal posts it was an unreal feeling. Along with most of the App State fans I didn't want to leave. I won't forget this weekend for a long time. See all of you in Knoxville next fall.

I'm cutting a mat to frame that will hold my ticket and a sticker I got with an 8x10 of the photo I took of the guys holding the trophy with the confetti raining down. Just have to decide between hanging it in my office or in my App themed media room!SpeedkingATL wrote:Out group drove up from ATL that morning arriving at Lot E around 10am. Re: Just rolled in from Montgomery...
It is roku software glitch from the last update and only affected college football replays. There is a newer update that fixes the problem. Go to settings and update your roku software.AppinATL wrote:I have Roku and have re-watched most games on it However the last two weeks I have not been able to. Mine was doing that exact thing too. I did a system update last night and it fixed it. Not in front of it now but it was under settings I believe and it's a software update.AppinATL wrote:I have Roku and have re-watched most games on it However the last two weeks I have not been able to. Re: Just rolled in from Montgomery...
What a trip! Made it to Montgomery on Friday, found my hotel, got my game ticket, and roamed the downtown area. Met a couple of guys from the Hendersonville area / Horseshoe and chatted with them a little while eating my ribs at Dreamland BBQ. The place was packed with Black and Gold. Later ran into them at the Railyard Brewery – as they were leaving. Luckily, they did not drink the place dry.
Walking through the Alley, struck up a conversation with some Ohio fans which turn out to be parents of a couple of the players. They were quite friendly and confident, which is the role of all fans (as well as parents). I was a little surprised at how few fans from Ohio had made the trip – especially with the package that was offered to their students.
On Saturday, I made my way to Lot E for tailgating fun and enjoyed meeting up with so many of the App Nation faithful. It was most enjoyable. Special thanks to the city of Montgomery for sitting up four Georgia Southern Stink Water Collection Centers. I brought my Gnome along and took a few pictures of him at the different tailgates.
As I made my way up to my seat in Section P – Row 41, I died laughing at the sign that the young lady sitting behind me had, welcoming the Ohio Pussycats. But the best part, was the petite individual got upset with the PA announcer on our first first down. On the next one, she let loose with a “THAT’S ANOTHER MOUNTAINEER” and the crowd yell out FIRST DOWN. She got us going early.
I also salute whomever the Mountaineer Storm Trooper was that was sitting on the Ohio side of the field. This individual was dressed up as a Star Wars Storm Trooper, but he/she was in gold with black ASU. Quite cool looking from our side of the field.
The App side of the field was noisy – except for the last 1:45 in the 2nd qtr and pretty much all of the 3rd qtr. However, in the fourth qtr, the noise level sounded as if we were back in Boone.
At halftime after watching the antics of the Ohio players as they left the field, I struggled to get to the restroom and concessions as the lines were long and slow. Again, as others have said, they were not ready for the Appalachian crowd. In the second half, I managed to get down to the lower part of the stadium closer to the field – a different view but in the fourth qtr I was so happy to be down there.
After the game, went downtown to enjoy the celebration. Afterwards, I left for New Orleans for our Christmas fun, getting back to Montgomery late last night then finally home today. What a first bowl experience!

Re: Just rolled in from Montgomery...
I heard from reliable sources that when our players saw the OU taunts, they almost returned to settle it right then. Glad they didn't but it shows the unity and Mountaineer spirit!WXAPP wrote:StrongWX AppAlumn1 has a good explanation of what played out. From my vantage point further up... they were also going "come on... come on.... " etc to the our fans... Man had that been one of my dad's teams doing that.. he, and his coaches, would have ripped them a new one right then and there... You just don't do that... PERIOD.. and at half time to boot! You just never want to give your competition motivation for coming out and digging down to exact revenge... so to speak... I'd imagine some of that was shared in that locker room. We had the last laugh... Didn't feel one bit bad for OU (hell my mom graduated from there) after that half time stunt.... It was just trashy.. and frankly.. I didn't expect that from a MAC team.

I saw and talked to Mondo Williams after the game at hotel (he was flying out to Iowa the next day I think). I asked did they see it?, to which he quickly responded; "oh yeah, we saw it." I also asked him how in the world he made that catch on the interception... He smiled big and said he lept as far as he could.
