Conference Realignment Article Has Some Wild Predictions
Not all of them are too cheery either. It's a fun read, though I don't agree with many of them. The link is http://www.thechaosindex.com/cest-la-tv ... u-realize/

Re: Conference Realignment Article Has Some Wild Predictions
No direct mention of App State, but he predicted that the Sun Belt would be pushed down to the FCS "where we belong."WVAppsfan wrote:Too long to read, so was there no mention of App State and the Sun Belt?
Really, though, I got a good laugh out of this. This guy sounds like a 38 year old man who spends a little too much time writing about his college realignment fantasies in the basement of his parent's house rather than working. He probably attended the local community college and is hoping that his dreams of watching the likes of Charlotte or FIU be among the P5 (or P4 by his predictions) within the next few weeks. This guy is pathetic and not even worth my scoffs.

I agree, just an opinion piece. When the Big 12 makes their move this summer the real fallout begins.

No matter how all of this shakes out, App just needs to keep on winning. If we are able to build on the early success that Coach Satt and staff have brought to the table, we will be just fine and might have several conferences wanting us to join one day.

In his snotty, condescending way, he did indicate a few SBC schools might get a bone tossed their way.MDaniels84 wrote:No matter how all of this shakes out, App just needs to keep on winning. Oh, and we still have the Sun Belt to deal with. So, here’s your solution, and really, it’s quite simple.
For relegation/promotion purposes, we pair the Pac-12 with the Mountain West; the B1G gets joined with the MAC; the SEC meets CUSA, and the ACC is now kissin’ cousins with the AAC.
I’m sorry. Did you say that I’m forgetting something? No, not really.
Goodbye, #FunBelt. A handful of you may stay in mid-majordom by joining CUSA or the AAC if they’ll have you. The rest of you are cordially invited to return to FCSland, and really, isn’t a chance at a real playoff and national championship more enticing that playing in the Marmot Outoftheway Bowl?
Again, sorry for the unfairness and cruelty of it all, but c’est la TV.

This thread probably doubled the hits on that page.
Hacks gonna hack. We went 3-1 against non-Sun Belt FBS teams last season.

Re: Conference Realignment Article Has Some Wild Predictions
Go ahead kid, keep doubting and dismissing. We'll just keep getting better.
The idea of relegation as it pertains to "worst team in the ACC gets pushed out to the AAC, best team in the AAC gets brought up to the ACC" seems entertaining (for a minute) but understand what kind of chaos that creates and how that would demolish attendance and cripple recruiting at the smaller schools (uncertainty is a b*tch). Also, if you're the little fish who suddenly gets thrust into a much bigger pond, the chances of you surviving in that pond are minimal. There would likely be a lot of "one and dones" in that situation. No fan base likes the thought of going 10-2 one year vs similar schools then going 2-10 the next vs the power houses.

Re: Conference Realignment Article Has Some Wild Predictions
One thing to look at in regard to all this is the fact that ESPN has admitted to over paying for the rights to sports as of late and has been shedding a lot of contracts. NASCAR, NHRA and others have not been renewed and I would expect that when a lot of the non-P5 football contracts come back up that they will be smaller in scope than what we have been seeing. ESPN's numbers have been going down and if they can get similar numbers with lessor teams for a lot less money, they will.
That's what I do. I gripe and I know things.
