Corso had a stroke a few years ago - certainly has affected his delivery - but, he is what he has always been the "comic" ---scatman77 wrote:ASU 's record in the Big House: 1-1
Cupcake's record in the Big House: 0-2
I loathe anything that comes from his mouth. He is nothing but a condescending has been who wants everyone to think his opinions are relevant. Corso is almost as bad. If he knows so much football why is he not coaching for a national championship?

Re: ESPN
Mispronouncing Appalachian is minor, you're missing the point. To herbie we are "cupcake", insignificant, small time, etc. It has been apparent from the beginning till today, no respect for the performance against Tennessee. He could make his point without being so damn condensing and disrespectful! Let's wait until Saturdays pregame and see what his thought are then. Maybe he will prove me wrong and give App some positive recognition, however, I'm not going to hold my breath. In the mean time, I agree that App has done nothing against P5 teams since that day at Michigan. And, the only way we are going to gain any respect is to go out and earn it. If the team is, by chance, reading this - it's time to prove we belong.Yosef10 wrote:I get you'd rather him pronounce Appalachian differently and you would rather him use a different school as an example but he didn't say anything that wasn't true. Re: ESPN
If we want ESPN to come back, we MUST win this game (and have it overflowing with LOUD yet respectful fans). I can't emphasize that enough.
That being said, the AFN sports schedule for that time slot has been changed to "COLLEGE FOOTBALL: TEAMS TBD". It previously was Temple/Penn State on AFN Prime and Iowa State/TCU on Sports2. <fingers crossed>

Re: ESPN
Did I read that there will be fans/students on ground level? We need as much loud distraction as possible when Miami has the ball. Just hope we don't have idiots who do something stupid like run onto the fieldbigapp wrote:If we want ESPN to come back, we MUST win this game (and have it overflowing with LOUD yet respectful fans). Re: ESPN
Herbie falls into the classic trap of many talking heads. He, and so many others, only care about the big programs, the elite of the P5, and focuses all of his analysis (if you can call it that) on maybe 10-12 programs. When an App State rolls in and challenges his myopic view of college football, he has nothing to do but "aww shucks" his way through excuses for the established program and discredit the up and comers. If he acknowledged teams like App Sate had real talent, abilities and coaching to compete on the big stage, he'd have to do a lot more work.
As long as the distance between wins is 9 years and counting, Herbie will continue to be able to spew is condescension. Pressing Tennessee into OT is good, but App needs to get into the W column.
Beat Miami, and beat them soundly, Herbie and the rest of the country will have to take notice.

Re: ESPN
I watched this without reading the entire post, there we VT signs in the background. I assumed this was Game Day this past Saturday from BMS. It is an old clip, I see. I sent a Tweet to Herbstreet asking him look at the hit that was laid out on the Tennessee QB.... Boy did I look stupid.

Re: ESPN
We're nationally televised on the Worldwide Leader, sure that's more about Miami than it is used. But we are only about a 4 point home-dog, looking at the early line; that's a sign of respect. Watch to see how much that moves over the next few days. Also, let's see what the Neilson's are for the game.

If Herbie lived in revolutionary times he would have been a Tory. His belief in elitism is as un-American as theirs was.

Not to try and change any minds, but he actually referred to us as a 'really good football team' last weekend, and correctly pronounced our name. Now back to the tar and feather treatment of him.

Re: ESPN
I think he knows football and does a great job with his game analysis. He is well spoken and has passion for what he does. My problem with him is that unless you are P5 you don't mean anything. Look where Boise was 10 years ago, Baylor, TCU, now Houston. Let the non P5 have their shot at developing their programs into something special. Kirk gives no credit to teams not in the P5 . . . not for the way they play, the winning tradition, nothing. Its always what the P5 didn't do and never what the other team did.Yosef10 wrote:What's herbstreit done to piss everyone off? I think he's very good in his role at Gameday.

Re: ESPN
Screw Herbstreit, The guys on Sirius XM's College Sports channel is calling this game "dangerous" for Miami. App's getting respect by pundits despite whatever those at The Worldwide Leader in Sports say.
