Saw them run they the band. Didn't see anyone get knocked over. Not getting involved in this cause If true Richt will take care of this. He's a classy guy and Miami down not deserve the thug label anymore. Stay classy Apps.

It's sexist to imply that guys can't be the victims...

Well, I do consider myself one of the "deplorables".

Thank you for posting another eye witness account. Very well said and appropriate. If anything did happen, which the actual events and facts seem to call into question, Coach Richt will DEFINITELY do the right thing. Miami kicked 3 defensive starters off the team right before the start of this season, for getting free rides in luxury rental cars. If this was FSU (or maybe even UNC) those players would have maybe sat a game or two.

Now, as we start to see more clearly that this may have very well been a hoax, what will happen to the person who started it? And will the others who so quickly jumped all over Miami without a shred of evidence be as vocal in their retractions and apologies if this proves to be false?

I don't know about this color guard thing. I hope this is not someone just stirring poop. I did see the cutting in the band stuff and thought it was classless. I will say that on the sidelines The coaches and players seemed professional. Not saying I watched them the whole time but did not see any fan taunting or such crap as that like I saw from the stAte rednecks last year.

No reason the band should be positioned where the visiting team comes out. This doesn't happen anywhere else. Didn't see UT's band lined up in the endzone App came out of. This is poor planning. Doesn't excuse the behavior if true but still, don't put yourself in bad situations.

My, aren't we touchy!! I hope you did not think I looked at this one supposed incident and came up with Thug U. I am not that creative. Give me a Hugh box of crayons and all I will draw is a stick man. When I heard that U of Miami was coming to Boone, I was excited!! Face it, you are known as the Bad Boys of college football, camo and all. Other than Alabama, almost no one would bring the hype and media like the U. When I told one of my Clemson friends that Miami was coming to Boone, that is when he told me the saying, you cannot spell Thug without the U. I have sense googled it and found out that Miami is also known has Convict U. I am learning something new everyday. Sports Illustrated even ran an article several years ago about how Miami should shut down its football program. Never seen one like that about App.
Yes, some people get all upset at Appy State, but my skin is not that thin. We are who we are. We have only been in full FBS for 3 years, have come along way, but like Saturday showed, still a long ways to go. You can call us what you want to.
You come to our message board and try to chastise me, but have you looked at your own boards? I have. I did not post anything but there is a lot of hate for App and it players over there. Our players are talked about like trash by some of your posters. There was never that much hatred towards The University of Miami or its players on ours. You know, you posted here and read ours.
One last thing, I hope what happened is not true. If it is, it would be a tragedy.
Would I trade our three FCS championships and what we have accomplished so far in FBS for Miami's 5 National Championships, to have the whole college football world view us like Miami, not a chance.
Have a Great Day!

Hey 85grad,
no more touchy than you guys about "appy". One of your Clemson friends told you the saying? You didn't know this yourself without being told? You obviously don't get out much or are very sheltered and don't read papers and watch TV or know much about football. We have been referred to as "Thug U" since the 1980's. Additionally, we are not known as "convict U". You obviously have no idea where that originated from - one game and one game only in the 1980's when Miami played Notre Dame and they sold shirts (off campus) that stated, "Catholics vs. Convicts". Funny thing about it is that we had no players on our team who had been in trouble with the law, plus had far more catholics on the team than Notre Dame. Of course Sports Illustrated hasn't stated AppState football should be shut down....actually, has Sports Illustrated ever stated much at all about AppState other than your win over Michigan? Get real.

I can only control what I do and say and not what is posted on my board or this board. Most of the posts I saw on my boards either felt we should not be playing your team or were concerned because of your play against TN. I addressed you direct for disrespectfully referring to us as "Thug U".

The term is libel. Though it doesn't appear anyone in particular was defamed. I'm not a lawyer but I would think it would require targeting a specific individual with the accusation in order for it to be considered libelous.

Why do we get on each others boards and comment negatively ? Most disputes between the opposing fans eventually get down to third grade level. Why don't we just worry about our own problems.

Correct, though I'm not an attorney -- just had to know libel law in Communications Law -- one has to name an individual person.

I meant to type liability. I don't know the legal aspect either, but perhaps if there are any attorneys on the board they could advise.

Miami already took our lunch money....I don't think a defamation suit could get anything else from us.

I think I saw some laser pointers being used from the Miami section on our defense. I blame them for our loss.

Putting ASU people in the path of the Miami football team as they come onto the field is an ASU mistake. I watched them come on the field and saw nothing. This post is making me wonder if some thing is being blown up or possibly made up. As regards to a defamation lawsuit the player would have to be named first and then dragged through an investigation that he could prove showed income loss. As much as i hate how ASU played on Saturday, the Miami players seemed professional, no outrageous celebration, no taunting that I witnessed (I could have missed something). Im sure some of them remember thier ass beating they took last year at the hands of one of thier peer institutions 58-0. And they now have a no non sense coach at the helm. Daytonacane i wish u guys luck the rest if the way. U seem to be one the more reasonable ones that post on the boards. Just a matter a time before ESPN picks this up and if its false could make ASU look bad.

Looks like we shouldn't line the color guard up so close to the opposing teams sideline. I'm not sure if this claim is even true, but if the band was a little further away this wouldn't even be possible.

There were enough cameras in the house that day that if something happened, I'd imagine it's on film somewhere. Let whatever investigation is underway, play out. Until then, this is all speculation.

As for the band/color guard, can the powers that be not have them move their formations off the opposing team's sideline to avoid in incidents in the future?

I may be wrong, but seems like the color guard(and the whole band) may have been lined up deeper than usual to allow for the sky diver's landing zone.

Ok...enough with all the legal analysis already. Save that for Gonzo the Magnificent!
