Tyson Fernandez

Unread post by CaliApp » Sun Oct 23, 2016 2:13 pm

Hey guys,

For those of you with more information: what has been up this season with TF? He's been such a solid player for us for years now and was even (so I thought) getting NFL buzz. When we announced before UT that he'd be playing a lot of guard this year, I just figured the larger need for such a talented player was on the O-line. But now I'm not seeing him get a lot of snaps there, either.

Did Stout simply beat him out? Is he nursing an injury? Is he still getting next-level interest? What's up with Tyson?

Not in the "know" but I think we are moving him from offense to defense too much for him to excel at either place. He was in at NG some yesterday. He seems to be a team player that will play wherever we need him to at any given time, but it may be at the expense of his development for the next level.
Again, I may be way off base, just my opinion

I believe the team only travels with 8 OL. We are thin along the line which prompted the coaches to try TF on offense. They felt comfortable exchanging TF due to Stout's play in the off season. After this year, the D will be thin at NG with Stout and Barrett as the only players with experience. It would be great if the coaches could find a true 3-4 DT recruit in this class.

Pretty sure they have moved him back to defense.

He was definitely back on D yesterday. He's logged time on both sides of the ball throughout the season.

It's pretty simple actually. He put too much weight on, especially right before camp, and it slowed him down some. He's still trying to get it off and believe me he's paying a price for having put it on. He's getting closer to weight and they have moved him back to NG full time, baring OL injury. Still a bit slower than he was last year but hopefully he'll start to be the force we had last year in the middle for these last games.

Was he trying to add weight for the move to OL? I know he had issues keeping his weight down a few years ago... too many trips to Bojangles I believe is what he said.
