Jort Nation travels well. The jorts, however, do not.McLeansvilleAppFan wrote:Thanks for dressing up for away games.Gonzo wrote:No jorts for away or neutral site games.

Re: Attendance and tv ratings
In my section it felt like we treated every down Toledo had on offense as if it was their 3rd down. The noise was relentless and then it felt good when we were on offense so you could take a little break from the yelling and maybe even sit down to rest (at least until we had a big play). It's Monday morning now and my voice is still raspy but I'm not complaining...so proud of our team!Gonzo wrote:We sure did bring the noise. Every single defensive play it was loud. I'm very proud of our fans.
At least by the eye ball our numbers looked similar to last year. I think the nature of the game is what helped us keep up the volume for all four quarters.
I can't even talk this morning. Well done. It's great to be a Mountaineer.

It'd be nice if that excitement was carried over to The Rock for 2017...yelling like every down is a 3rd and long. On TV it honestly sounded like the stadium was full of App fans. I loved it!

That would be awesome and a great home-field advantage but then we wouldn't be able to hear those 15 seconds of a piped in song over the loud speakers.appaneer1984 wrote:It'd be nice if that excitement was carried over to The Rock for 2017...yelling like every down is a 3rd and long. Re: Attendance and tv ratings
I was in Section Q, Row 12 and it was LOUD! I don't think we ever sat down during play. I think it was the most involved App fan base I have seen this year and of course NO ONE was leaving early for this one! Well done App Nation. I was afraid with some of the negative comments about playing "the same bowl" again that support would be less than last year, but it looked nearly the same to me as last year and maybe even louder at times.

Yes. I was in Section Q, Row 13, I think. It was loud. I did sit some, but I'm still hoarse this morning.SpeedkingATL wrote:I was in Section Q, Row 12 and it was LOUD! I agree it was about the same attendance from App Nation as last year. Perhaps a few more. Kidd Brewer - South.
Re: Attendance and tv ratings
I was in section Q row 14 and helped all I could with the noise. When they had the ball it was very loud, even more so than last year I think. I also did not see any drop off in attendance this year. If we were to win enough games and be in Montgomery next year, I think it will have an impact on attendance.

Definitely fewer than last year. Watching the replay, you can see a lot more open seats on our side of the field than last year. Great quality of fans we had there, just like last year, just not quite as many.

App v Toledo: 1,483,000
This was more than NM v UTSA and ULL v USM.

Re: Attendance and tv ratings
I'd say it's good that we beat out all the other bowl games played that day even with a 29% drop from 2015 and all while in direct competition with UK v UNC. I'm guessing we could've pulled in a few more viewers had the Heels not been playing.MtnMan09 wrote:Anybody know whats "good" for a game like ours?
I know it was in direct competition with MIA v NYJ on the NFL Network but I'm surprised by ULL v USM numbers. I would have thought with the 9pm prime time slot and no other sports competition outside of NFL Network subscribers, they would've done much better. Guess 6-6 v 6-6 doesn't draw eyeballs!
Overall what would be "good" IMO, is clearing 2 million total and clearing 1 million in the coveted 18-49 demographic. IIRC, the numbers listed do not include streaming.

Camellia Bowl is now announcing attendance for Saturday's game at 20,257, slightly less than last year (21,395), but one fan higher than the inaugural year (20,256).

Re: Attendance and tv ratings
I visited a C-USA message board last night and a poster used the term "Appy State"....I politely and respectfully requested they use "App", "App State", or "Appalachian State" as there is no "y" anywhere in the Appalachian State. Appy is not as egregious as App-uh-LAY-shun but it still annoys me. It's like calling a 30 year old "Bobby" because you've known him since he was 8. They politely accepted my correction.
