Re: McCurg brothers
I understand they may want to be closer to home but I was really looking forward to seeing what they would contribute over the next 4 years here. Am I the only one on here that wonders why we can't seem to keep 3 star recruits? It seems to me we frequently loose highly touted players after their first year at App. It can't send a good message to new recruits.

Re: McCurg brothers
Perhaps the 3 star and higher recruits that we get expect instant impact and are surprised when they arrive that lower rated players beat them out. I don't know specifically but just a guess. It isn't just a problem at App, highly rated recruits that don't start tend to transfer out of schools. It is just the way it goes now.

Re: McCurg brothers
Alabama had a former 5* number 1 overall QB leave last year 4 games into the season. Schools have 85 (I think) scholarships and only 22 total positions on O and D to start. People leave programs all the time. Hurts us as we are still moving from FCS to FBS and losing good bodies doesn't help but as I stated above it happens as big schools as well.

Re: McCurg brothers
I would suspect that most big time coaches at big time schools tell All of their big time 5 star studs that they will play big time minutes. Ain't gonna happen for all of them. Kids who ruled the world in high school get a rude awakening and many can't accept the cold hard facts. We have beaten the star thing to death. Can't be a world of difference in a two and a three star recruit. A lot can change in the body and mind of an 18 year old young person. Lots of luck at Tennessee Tech boys. Next up....

Re: McCurg brothers
Here is an article about the Alabama QB's. There is a big difference between a kid getting a wake up call and a coach not telling him the truth and stringing him along. This is something I hear our coaches do not do with our players and recruits. I have been told they are very straight up with where they are and how they will be used.bigdaddyg wrote:I would suspect that most big time coaches at big time schools tell All of their big time 5 star studs that they will play big time minutes. Re: McCurg brothers
It wasn't homesickness. On-field issues. Not sure if I'm supposed to share more here (believe Moose explained it on the recruiting board), but it was no big controversy.
The point about 3* recruits leaving is interesting. I don't think it sends a bad message to new recruits - we've got plenty of guys who are excelling, after all. But I do think it's worth noting that arguably we've had more success with our lower-rated recruits than our supposed best ones. Even among the 3* still on the team, only Meadors is sure to start this year.
My (still developing) theory is that perhaps you're better off with under-the-radar guys than with low 3*, which often means the P5s have evaluated them somewhat thoroughly and decided to take a pass. A guy like Jalin Moore, OTOH, didn't even have a profile on the recruiting sites until he committed to us I believe the day before signing day.

Re: McCurg brothers
I agree - if anything, it sends a positive message that you better come to APP ready to work and to be part of a TEAM, no matter what you did in high school nor how many stars someone put beside your name ---

Did you send a PM to appst89? If you just did the group add request then you need to send the request to him. He gets the process going.JROCK98 wrote:I have requested to be added to Moose Lodge in the past and have never been added
