They've done NEZ seating a bit different every year. The band will sit there so that takes up about a third. It's generally has a capacity for 2,000.

I know what capacity we have done in the recent years (2,000 to 2,500 approx.). what I mean is what is the Maximum amount of temporary seating we could cram into the north end zone. Maybe the 2,500 or so we have used in recent years is the max. I was just wondering if anyone knows if we could somehow cram 5,000 or more into that space.

That seems like a lot to me unless they make them higher. In any sense, the "most" we will have at a game is 34,658 people per the fire marshal.

If we went higher on the NEZ would the Fire Marshall up the max crowd size or is the fire code based on exits and other factors that even with a larger NEZ would only shift attendance from the Hill to the NEZ?

I'm sure there are many variables, but I know the number of entrances/exits was to blame most recently.

I could explain the formulas used to calculate max capacity for any facility, since I have done them more times than I can count, but no one wants to read all that. So in general terms yes, the primary concern in any outdoor facility is how quickly can that facility and AREA around the facility (ie parking lots, etc) be emptied in the event of an emergency. And primary to that is exits.

Will one of you guys please write a check to remove the track because hearing about it has become more aggravating than looking at it.

I do remember a time where before kickoffs the band would play an Olympic prelude song with fingers pointing in the opposite direction ! Loved this !

Esthetically, yes (the whole high schoolish thingy). Otherwise what good will it do to get rid of it considering the millions it will cost? The additional seating will be minimal and the worst place in the stadium for viewing. Being closer to the field is simply trying to keep up with the Jones. KBS is plenty loud as it is when we have a full crowd and an exciting opponent.

The track may provide a means of egress for those seated on the hill. If so, it may actually increase the rated capacity of the stadium. We gotta keep the track!

Track has got to go! While the hill is beautiful.. it is atleast 100 ft to far away and it's terrible to watch a game from .

Never underestimate a physics major's love of a good equation.

Does bathroom availability play a part in the max attendance or is this more of a self-imposed customer experience number that should be considered. Does the Health department have some small role to play if the bathroom/spectator ratio is so out of whack as to be a danger or is all this part of the Fire Marshall and he/she checks this for the Health Dept as well, if it is indeed a factor.)

Update on the sound system from the new video board---I have twins boys that started at ASU a couple of weeks ago. One is in Gardner on the 9th Floor looking at the stadium. He texted me yesterday so excited that the new sound system was live and in his words "It sounded AWESOME!!!" I can't wait to hear it for myself. I am so glad my wife and decide to support the GO FIGHT WIN campaign to help make this happen. It just goes to show what we can do if our fan base joins together! GO APP!!

I'm really glad to have that sound system is ready to go. We've needed to upgrade for a long time but last season it was worse than I've ever heard it. I had trouble understanding what was being said half the time. At first I thought it was just my aging ears, but my daughter commented on it also, so I felt a little better. :-)

How far from the field is the upper deck on the visiting team side?

The upper deck on the East side is closer to the field than the upper deck on the West side! If the East upper deck continued over the East lower stands, the stands would be really close to the sidelines. That is not the case with the West upper deck and the West lower stands!
