Biggest weekend in a while for App State Football
We play Georgia State in a big game between friends and roommates to move ever closer to a Sunbelt repeat. AND for the first time since 2007, Armanti plays for a Championship. The Argos play in the Grey Bowl for the CFL championship on Sunday, thanks to "Money" making a clutch catch with seconds remaining to set up the winning TD. Wow the old tingles down the spine return!!

Re: Biggest weekend in a while for App State Football
This weeks game is interesting for a number of reasons. As it has been all year, we cannot sleep on Georgia State or we will get beaten. Can't understand how they lost to FCS Tenn State the first game, but are undefeated in common opponents (including Louisiana Monroe). Their only conference loss is to Troy. They had to come from behind to beat Georgia Southern, but put 670 yards on Louisiana Monroe. They appear to be a pretty sound football team. Will we be rested, recuperated or rusty?
Coaches know each other well. Not that far from Boone. Could this develop into more of a rivalry???

They lost to Tennessee State because they didn't yet believe! It just shows how much of football is about attitude, believing and momentum. Once SE got them on track, they started rolling and haven't looked back. I certainly hope App doesn't take them for granted. I don't believe we will. Hopefully we have some guys healthy, hungry and ready to send a message that is long over due.

Absolutely. I think anyone who thinks GaSt is a gimme game this year has not followed Sun Belt football at all this year. They basically have the same record we do. Their 6-3 would probably be 6-4 had their game against Memphis not been cancelled. Their first loss was their first game with a new coach and their second loss was against Penn State, back when they looked invincible. They dropped one to Troy, but I don't think we would have beaten Troy this year.Longrifle28 wrote: ↑Mon Nov 20, 2017 10:59 amAs it has been all year, we cannot sleep on Georgia State or we will get beaten.
Georgia State looks to be our equal. This will not be an easy game. And not in a "we can't look ahead or we'll get beaten" kind of way. A legitimately difficult game.
And I watched the last half of the Toronto/SSK game yesterday. It was super exciting, and way to go Armanti!
Re: Biggest weekend in a while for App State Football
We should be the underdogs in this game. We have wins against Savannah State and the bottom 5 teams in the Sunbelt. We have not beaten a winning team yet. Actually as it turns out the last two games of the season are going to have to be our biggest wins of the season if we want a share of the title.

I think we better be ready for a physical game. I hope we have people back from injuries and are prepared to punch them back. I am sure SHAWN Elliot will have them psyched and ready to play.
If we come in rusty or thinking this is a gimme, it could get ugly.

They go as Penny Hart goes. If he is slowed they struggle and their QB struggles. If he gets loose it makes for a long day.

Re: Biggest weekend in a while for App State Football
We have to get off the bus ready to go. Georgia State has a perfect record this year in games where they were tied or ahead at the end of the first quarter. Conversely, they are 0-3 in games where they trailed at the end of the first. We can't let them get ahead and confident. If we ever need to have a good first Q, THIS is the game.

I know Scott likes to keep this quiet, but has anyone heard about our injuries and if we are getting people back?

We are a slow starting team and historically slow starting after a bye. First 10 minutes will be critical.

App has to play for 4 quarters and can't afford to have a zombie first quarter. Time for this team to put it all together for the stretch run.

I would like to see a scripted 1st series in "jet mode", do not give GaSt time to think.

If you're planning to buy tixs and head to the game now is the time. GASt is offering $10 tickets via their Website using the code "FRIDAY". They aren't the greatest seats but they are in the general public/visiting team sections. And besides, it looks to be pretty easy to move around at the Ted. Two tickets and pre-paid parking, with all fees, for $39. Better than $25 + fees per ticket and $20 gameday parking. Hoping for a good traveling contingent for a HUGE game!

This game reminds me of the Elon game back in 2009. Hopefully we will get off to a good start in this one too.

So many good memories from that game. My favorite might have been the woman on the way out loudly complaining about all the Appalachian fans coming down for the game. She said that folks should only go to games at their stadium and not ruin other peoples home games. I politely explained that it wasn't the fans that ruined her day. It might have been the 22 guys wearing white that just laid an a$$ whipping on her team.
