Watched the post game presser. Satt laughed because they knew it was the correct call. Hennigan said he figured the same as he crossed the goal line but was hoping.

I was down on the field after the game congratulating the guys and worked my way over to "Touchdown Hennigan ".The time and care he took with kids and their families wanting photos was impressive, downright inspiring. He had to be tired and beat up , but he had a smile,a kind word and a thank you for all comers. They won't forget that, and nether will I.

I have never heard that waiving your arms horizontally was a fair catch. I have heard the debate of shielding your eyes from the sun versus waiving. I guess I always thought that you had to waive your arm above your head. Learn something new everyday.

An invalid fair catch signal is when the player signaling for a fair catch does not fully extend his arm above his head. If the players arm is flexed, an invalid fair catch penalty will be called and the ball will be marked down at the spot of the invalid fair catch and then assessed a five yard penalty.

SS stated that it was the correct call. He said that Hennigan could have pointed but any waiving of the arms is considered a fair catch. It was just odd that the ball just happened to bounce right to him.

The whistle should have been blown. It's a good thing no one got hurt on that play.

There should be a way to communicate with teammates that does not end the play. I guess that is the rule, but it is dumb, and took a 5th TD away from a hell of a player

Infraction or not, it seems like we got all these weird calls that don't seem to get called go against us this entire year. It's just strange.
I just googled the rules and saw this: http://d.pr/i/B0uQTi -- maybe it says elsewhere, but I'd make the argument that he wasn't signaling fair catch and if he did, why didn't you blow the whistle? If he was in fact signaling for a fair catch, why didn't he try to actually catch the ball? The "invalid" signal is debatable the way it's written.
If it's movement of the arms, you would have to say that running up to catch the ball and moving your arms running could be an "invalid" signal.
Either way, it was a great return...it just seems like these rules that you never see get called got called this year...
Hennigan is a great example for App, just like so many before him!! Depending on the QB play the next 3 years, he may break a LOT of records.

I had a good chat with #5 too between pics. I had told him after the SSU game that he would be special. He smiled and thanked me. I said the same to Henni again and he smiled again with great humility.

A friend had him in her class in high school. She said he was a great athlete, but even a better young man. That’s what we like to hear.

He was the class president at Northwest Guilford. That says a lot.
