Re: Analyzing the ESPN Deal w/ DJ [Black & Gold Podcast]
Thanks guys and thanks for DJ's insight as always.
I do take exception to the Capel segment. We all agree it was the wrong hire and put Capel in a tough situation at that point in his career. However when you sign a contract for over half a million you are expected to perform or at a bare minimum not put the program on probation for academic issues and that is the part that is inexcusable. Alex thanks for the comment of "this isn't poor ole Capel", and bring us back to some sort of accountability on the person that signed up for the job. Scary the other option was JR Reid.
DJ may have missed the part of the deal in which ESPN is helping those with lower quality production capabilities so that will likely help the bottom half of the conference more than those like App that are prepared to stream ESPN+ quality, but until that time I believe App will receive more of the olympic sport slots.
Loved the join the Yosef Club pitch too, spot on how important increasing membership is!

Just listened to this edition and the David Jackson part is a must listen. It was very eye opening as to what we are up against and our budgetary restrictions. Fortunately I believe we are on the right track.
