Re: Zac Thomas
His timing in that 4th quarter was magic. I haven seen a QB really zip a ball in there like that since Armanti.
It’s going to be a fun year!

Re: Zac Thomas
Said it a few times. If this team brings this intensity every week we should win the rest. We should absolutely beat the dog poop out of most teams we play. Zac was money yesterday and we are loaded with talent. Second youngest team in the country- wow.

Re: Zac Thomas
I caught a lot of heat over the years for saying it..... but I desperately wanted to see what this team would look like with a QB who could sling the ball all over the field. I respect the H out of Taylor for what he did for the program, but I felt like the talent around him had gotten so good and he was more of a limiting factor (mostly against strong G5 and P5 competition). Zac showed me yesterday that he is somewhat of a gunslinger, he didn't hold the ball, take unnecessary sacks, or second guess the plays that were there. Taylor was special, but Zac is bringing the QB position up to the level our defense and run game have been for a few years now. App State Football is entering a new era and I am unbelievably excited.

Re: Zac Thomas
Very happily surprised. Just has to improve control very slightly and perfect connection with WRs.

Re: Zac Thomas
He made alot of throws yesterday Taylor just couldnt make. He and the WRs should have a lot of confidence moving forward. Plus Jalin quietly had 100 yards of offense. Scary.

Re: Zac Thomas
As good a his passing stats were they could have been better, several drops that should have been caught. He threw behind one guy as he was taking a hit but other than that he was very accurate.

Aren’t you a bucket of sunshine!
Sure, room for improvement. First game, and in front of 100k+ howling Yankees at that. Not saying he’s our GOAT, but if you don’t walk away from last night feeling good about just about every position on our team, you might need a nap, a hug, and a Zoloft.

Re: Zac Thomas
I didn't get to watch but the hi-lites yesterday were awesome! The pass down the sideline that threaded the needle was the stuff of legend, not to mention the great catch between two defenders!
We don't slide at Appalachian State. It's a sign of weakness.

Re: Zac Thomas
I am always optimistic, sometimes to a fault when it comes to our Mountaineers. Yesterday, just before kickoff , I told my wife that I just had a good feeling about Zac. Even though he had only played in mop up duty, I just had a certain feeling about this young man. Well, he went beyond my wildest expectations. I don't want to compare him to Taylor because that was nothing but great in its own right but I don't even see a ceiling for Zac. The one thing that got answered yesterday with this young team is that they don't have QUIT in their vocabulary. We will do well this year.

Re: Zac Thomas
One cool commentary on Zac that I pulled from Taylor Lamb's twitter account...
"Finally a good QB for @AppState_FB !! @Zac_Thomas14 ice in his veins! Legendary stuff from the youngin!"
You know that Taylor has to be really happy for Zac.

Re: Zac Thomas
We got a good one, he has multiple years left to continue his development. I liked the poise, leadership, and determination he showed throughout as a sophomore making his first collegiate start. The arms strength, accuracy, and decision making was just all added bonus. Very, very, very, bright future.

Re: Zac Thomas
Zac is awesome.
Taylor was great and did exactly what we needed at that point in our history. I love him.
I think Taylor could well be highly responsible for molding Zac into the stud QB we saw yesterday.
Thanks Taylor.

Re: Zac Thomas
One comment about Zac was that his last start was 2015. He looked unafraid from the get go. Every venue from here on out will pale in comparison. Hopefully he can block out the noise versus conference foes in front of hundreds of raucous fans- lol

Re: Zac Thomas
The media is all about Alabama's Tua and what he did to an unranked Louisville last night. Save the interception in OT (which I do not think was Zach's fault), Zach had a better game against the 10th ranked Penn State. That's more than anyone could have asked for out of Thomas.
One game does not a career make, but Zach certainly came out of the starting block like a wildfire!

Re: Zac Thomas
My only problem is that they didn’t open up the playbook sooner. Might have been a blow out in our favor. That said, I understand why a conservative approach was taken until we got down 14.
