That said...on paper... we will see.
This is what our rivalry is about and the fact that both of our programs are fighting it out for the conference title, just like the Socon days, makes the world feel right. If we go back through the record books, you can pretty much throw out the stats and current records as they mean absolutely NOTHING when these two teams line up.
Probably 2 of the more obvious look backs are 2007 after App beat Michigan and 2013 when GS beat the Gators. Each team lost to the other in those seasons even though each had a historic FBS win. 2010 and 2011 gives us similar results. Each team wins the conference (App 2010 & GS 2011), yet they lose the rivalry game. I'm sure we could dig up another handful of examples but you get the point.
I realize there are fans in each base that want to see the other program lose. Some out of sheer hate, others "want help" or a "cushion" to win the conference. I'm not one of them. I want both teams undefeated entering the game so it means even more. Hopefully there will come a day when this game is played that both teams will have an AP number appearing next to their respective names and casual fans are forced to pay attention.
One thing I believe we can all agree on is that the Sun Belt made the best additions, especially as it pertains to FBS football, when compared to the "marketz strategy" employed by CUSA.
Now back to your regularly scheduled, hippy goats drinking stinky ditch water while sister humping meth mouthed banjo players with no teeth inside a single wide, sh*t talking! And with that said:
GaSt fans watch Maury Povich daily to be reminded that App is their daddy!
GS fans watch Maury Povich daily to be reminded that GaSt is their daddy!
