Re: Scott Gone
Guess it really is about the aspirations to coach at P5 level. It's my understanding that isn't a great deal more money than he was getting here at App albeit not nearly that kind of buyout.
Here he is established and in 5 or 6 years he would definitely be making same kind of money here I don't get that part so guess it's that P5 thing
Little surprised until yesterday....thought he might be in the nod for GaTech.
Yes....his agent sucks.....should have gotten more than that.... Louisville got a steal!
KICK ASS!!!

Re: Scott Gone
I’ve said it before. There is just something special up on the mountain and I just don’t think it will go to Louisville- no offense to Satt. I really felt it standing on that field Saturday as I was getting covered in confetti. After we win the bowl game most of us realists will see that while we are in the Belt it won’t get any better than this. Satt knows it and most of us know it. Someone suggested on another thread that we load up and play 3 or 4 P5’s every year. Unless they are the dregs we ain’t getting two bigs to play in Boone unless we really sacrifice our future non-conference opportunities. Folks complain about attendance but few seem to acknowledge that 5k in conference foe fans simply are not going to travel. Money drives this train and we simply can’t nor should we overpay for Satt or any football coach.

Folks. Seriously. Take a breath re: the salary. It was an unsourced tweet from a random dude on Twitter.
If you take every unsourced tweet as gospel, your life is going to be difficult.

Re: Scott Gone
Correct..... with a crap ton of bonuses and incentives. He did well for himself this season by hitting a lot of those.

I'm thinking the same, but I guess incentives get up. But still thought it would take more than that.

Re: Scott Gone
With winning the bowl game and the championship, etc., he probably would have been right at $1.0 million this year if I remember correctly. That includes the monthly retention bonuses and Yosef Club payouts for appearances.appstatealum wrote: ↑Mon Dec 03, 2018 4:42 pmCorrect..... with a crap ton of bonuses and incentives. Welp, good luck Scott.
I've got faith in DG that we have someone that will be able to take over the reigns.

Re: Scott Gone
Yes, The Rock is Home to something special. I said it back in 2006 after I could see a sustainable culture shift in the program. I remember over the next few years saying a move up is imminent and that we would be able to compete early and often because of the type of kids we bring in and the culture we have them buy in to. Many people who do not get it just laughed my statements off. Well, look at us now. Are we at the top, no. Hell, we aren’t even considered at the top of the G5, although hanging around. But we are not deep into this journey and we are nationally relevant in the FBS.bigdaddyg wrote: ↑Mon Dec 03, 2018 4:35 pmI’ve said it before. My wife complains that I am always looking ahead and not enjoying the moment, but all I can see with this team is the inevitable growth to that next level. I do not think it will take long for us to be at the Top of the G5 if we maintain our culture. And once you are at the Top of the G5, it will be time to really push our presence in the Charlotte market and start hoping for that shot at a larger conference......I may be wearing my Gold glasses, but it all seems inevitable....

Yes, and looking forward to that magic in the coming years. Our program is way more than just one man. Satt was great but he didn't do all of this alone. I think we're going to be just fine. I'm excited about what the new guy's gonna bring.

Now that he's gone, we can hope he leaves our players in Black & Gold.

Re: Scott Gone
I REALLY like Brown. I’m not sure if he would be ready to take on a HC job, but his competitiveness and ability to connect with these kids, I would love to see us retain him one way or the other.diehardapp18 wrote: ↑Mon Dec 03, 2018 4:48 pmYeah, big outlets are starting to report it. Make no mistake, this App Football Team has a defensive identity, big change from our history as an offensive school. Scott has really been leaning on this defense to dictate and win the games as of late, not a crazy thought for DG to take a flier on Bryan Brown to maintain our recruits and current culture (plethora of young kids versus juniors and seniors).
