Agreed. I wonder though if they're willing to continue the series after the 2020 return game in Winston. I feel like Clawson understands that we've elevated our program but not sure the bulk of Wake's core fan base sees us any differently than an FCS SoCon team. Perceptions take time to change. But a regular home & home series with Wake would be awesome.appstate77 wrote: ↑Fri Apr 19, 2019 1:10 pmDo the same with Wake Forest and we have something special!

What a treat for our little school to get on the schedule of a university that resides right in the heart of the area just outside the world renowned metropolis of Charlotte. This will help them be ready for the daunting SEC conference schedule they will surely be playing by then.

The key to lowering student fees is to do like UNCC does....lower admission standards and get more students then charge them for parking. I like the series though.

Well, you’re half right. When it come to us playing uncc, my glass is all the way empty.AppSt94 wrote: ↑Fri Apr 19, 2019 11:28 amFill your glass man. It appears to be half empty.ASUDieHard wrote: ↑Fri Apr 19, 2019 10:55 amJust don’t see how anyone is excited about this. Just don’t. Sorry.

Agreed. Away games that are within driving distance (in my case 10 minutes) are good for the fanbase, which in turn, is good for the program.AppSt94 wrote: ↑Fri Apr 19, 2019 11:28 amFill your glass man. Re: New 4 game series with Charlotte
Signed a home and home series within four hours of Charlotte or Raleigh is a no-brainer for the program.
The more of these SBC sign and continue to win the better. The farce that CUSA is a better conference will continue to be disproved each passing year.

They actually have a captive on campus student base in dorms and apartments. I think that they have a more traditional campus life than Georgia State. They are also the only major football in town.
UNCC undergrad student population is 23,914. 24% live on-campus and 76% live off-campus. Thus they have 5,739 students living on campus. https://www.usnews.com/best-colleges/unc-charlotte-2975
Georgia State, meanwhile has an undergrad student body of 25,970 with 22% living on-campus and 78% off-campus for a total of 5,713 students on campus. Only 20 less than UNCC. https://www.usnews.com/best-colleges/ge ... rsity-1574
I'm sick of all the myths about Charlotte's "potential". They are nothing but Georgia State with a crappier basketball program.
According to that same site we only have 33% living on campus with 67% off campus. 17017 undergrad enrollment. That means we only have 5615 on campus. We have lower total than they do. We aren't that much better if you are trying to throw around stats to shit on their school. By your standard I guess a lot of schools are commuter schools and therefore unworthy. Just because people don't always live on campus doesn't mean there isn't a good campus life.
39% of NCSU is on campus.
38% for UNCA
51% for UNC-Hill
20% for ECU
32% for UNCG
22% for UNCW
-------------------
28% GA Southern
44% Coastal C.
18% LL
29% for UA South
5% UT Arlington
There is nothing wrong with UNCC. They do have potential to build a program regardless of how many App fans want to cry about it. They do have a campus life. UNCC becoming a stronger program would help us in the long run as we could have a true rivalry with a regional foe. As much as some of you think we are going to be playing wake/unc/duke/ncstate we are not going to magically break in to the tradition of tobacco road. We need to build a rivalry and UNCC is a good choice for the long haul. You can't count on us being as strong as we are right now forever. Build what we can while we can because even the best programs out there go through slumps.

Re: New 4 game series with Charlotte
The on/off campus metric is kind of misleading. Myself and most of my friends lived “off campus” Sophomore, Junior, Senior years and we all walked to class everyday. The real difference between a school like App and a school like uncc is the percentage of students that are actively a part of the school’s culture vs students who are just trying to finish a degree. That’s not really measurable but from my personal knowledge of people that attended both, App has a much higher percentage of the former while uncc has a much higher percentage of the later.appdaze wrote: ↑Sat Apr 20, 2019 10:05 amAppftw wrote: ↑Fri Apr 19, 2019 2:43 pmThey actually don't. Two different schools with two different cultures. I am obviously not a fan of UNCC but I do not disrespect them either. They do need to understand, however, that respect is earned and not given. That should change with Judy Rose gone. Glad for the opportunity to play them in basketball too.

Re: New 4 game series with Charlotte
The Wake Forest alumni base doesn’t care about scheduling us. Their AD does but only for financial reasons. I would love to play them every year but foreseeabily it’s unlikely. I like the Charlotte series for a lot of reasons but I do think it’s a much bigger deal for them than us at this point. Spank them and I’m happy.

This is good business for us. We get home games and close away games that large traveling fan base can make. We just to whip them and it helps our resume.

I enjoy reading their fans online belittle the town of Boone and say nice things about Blowing Rock, Banner Elk, etc., don't they know UNCC isn't in downtown Charlotte...

The most delusional 140 fans in college football. They still think they beat us last time and that it was our Super Bowl.

I can't believe we let them score 9 points last time and only scored 45 points ourselves. This next game at home should be a revenge game for us.

We will feast upon Concord Tech as well as Stink Community College this Fall.
