Charlotte area App State Alumni
Any of you guys ever go to Angry Ales for App games? I go occasionally and the service is usually really bad, but it is a great place to watch the game. It is overrun with Black and Gold and they turn most of the TV's to the game as well as turn the sound up on just that game. I was thinking of going next Wednesday night for the Louisiana game.

Re: Charlotte Alumni
Not to be overly critical here, but you need to change your thread title. I thought I was clicking to debate a UNCC alumnus over a moral victory a few weeks ago.

Re: Charlotte Alumni
It's a fun place to watch. I think the owner is an App alum, so I hate to complain too much. It is on the small side and if the weather is bad forget the deck. Bar food and bar service. I usually catch one game a season there. They put up with a bunch of rowdy App fans. So, thank you Ales!

Re: Charlotte Alumni
love Angry Ales! It’s a low key dive in my opinion and that’s all I expect out of it when I go...Haven’t been to a game there but do lunch and some evening brews/dinner occasionally. Yes is App owner, it’s the de facto charlotte alumni meetup place...Get the protein plate, steak or chicken and you will be hooked on the flavors!

Yeah. I try to go once a year. They are a client of mine, so I always love supporting them. Food is solid but Service has been hit or miss for years.

I usually hit up the week night games there with a few other App grads or parents to current students. The food is really good if they bring you the right orderappstatealum wrote: ↑Mon Sep 30, 2019 4:30 pmYeah. I try to go once a year. They are a client of mine, so I always love supporting them. Non alcoholic beverages. Needless to say, Montford is a nice little strip of business for me.NattyBumppo'sRevenge wrote: ↑Mon Sep 30, 2019 4:47 pmI usually hit up the week night games there with a few other App grads or parents to current students. I watched the DG bowl there and had a great time. We got very rowdy out on the deck and even got a group together to throw our buddy in the air for each score.

Went there last year to watch the Troy game I believe. It’s a great place to watch a game with a bunch of fellow App fans.

If you're talking about Andy, I think he went to William and Mary. Not sure about his dad, though.appstatealum wrote: ↑Mon Sep 30, 2019 8:58 pmNo, he is most definitely an App guy.PhillyApp1 wrote: ↑Mon Sep 30, 2019 8:25 pmI was told the owner was not an App State Alum..... i will consider going....service has sucked the 3 times i was there, so i gave up

Re: Charlotte area App State Alumni
Interesting you mention that. They also owned the bar/restaurant space next door, Andrew Blairs/SouthSide/some mexican place and bulldozed it down recently. There are currently sand volleyball courts, but they are planning on putting a mixed use multilevel commercial building there with 3 restaurant/bars, office space, and parking for 200+. Montford, the street it's on was booming a few years ago, but with the emergence of Southend, it's slowed down significantly. Their plan is to make it a top nightlife area again. Angry Ale's, itself, was renovated a year or two and is still pretty popular and a pretty cool venue. Food is good and has a decent beer selection, but sometimes they sacrifice service for eye candy. And sometimes they just sacrifice service.

Re: Charlotte area App State Alumni
Yeah, Andy went to somewhere in VA (Washington and Lee I think). I forgot what they told me about their App State relationship. But he has been an App guy (meaning fan) dating back to 06 when he bought it.NattyBumppo'sRevenge wrote: ↑Tue Oct 01, 2019 11:21 amIf you're talking about Andy, I think he went to William and Mary. Side note, a few of the people at Broken Spoke are App guys, I feel like they should do some viewing parties or something.

We watched the App v UNC game there. Drove down from Hickory because of the CLT alumni viewing party was held there. It was a lot of fun... had all TVs and sound with the game. Would go back for sure!

Crown Station in NoDa is owned by a few alumni, and they've been hosting watch parties as of late.appstatealum wrote: ↑Tue Oct 01, 2019 12:23 pmYeah, Andy went to somewhere in VA (Washington and Lee I think).
