College Gameday
What will it take to get them to come to Boone? I mean today they're at South Dakota State with a lot of big P5 matchups on the schedule for today.

Re: College Gameday
They will never come to Boone while in the SBC unless we are ranked in the top 20 and hosting a top 10-20 team on a slow weekend. I don't see that perfect storm happening. If we get into the AAC I could see it. It would be interesting if we could get Boise State, SMU, UCF, etc type to open with in Boone the week before most games start like Aug 24 type game then I could see that for sure. We don't have anything like that scheduled though.

It also doesn’t help that our biggest conference rivalry is always played on Thursday night.AppStFan1 wrote: ↑Sat Oct 26, 2019 11:04 amThey will never come to Boone while in the SBC unless we are ranked in the top 20 and hosting a top 10-20 team on a slow weekend. Re: College Gameday
College Gameday chose to be at a FCS matchup today on a weekend with multiple top 25 matchups. They went to Western Michigan a few years ago when they hosted an unranked opponent. I am not saying it is definitely happening soon but if App continues to be a ranked team, I wouldn't be shocked for them to eventually make a stop in Boone.

Re: College Gameday
Don't you think they would be more likely to come when we host a ranked team while we are ranked regardless of opponent? GSU is our biggest rival but they are struggling right now.WASU 93 wrote: ↑Sat Oct 26, 2019 11:18 amIt also doesn’t help that our biggest conference rivalry is always played on Thursday night.AppStFan1 wrote: ↑Sat Oct 26, 2019 11:04 amThey will never come to Boone while in the SBC unless we are ranked in the top 20 and hosting a top 10-20 team on a slow weekend. For sure. They like going to NDSU though so I'm sure GameDay is not upset by it. However, you are right. If Wisconsin had won there is no doubt they would be there.

Re: College Gameday
I’d be curious how many G5 sites have ever hosted Gameday. They do an FCS game every year for that quaint, small-time feel. Sun Belt is too big to be small-time and too small to be big-time.
I’m not saying it will never happen - it may - but I think we’ll need a few years of sustained national relevance AND a big-time opponent to have a shot.

Re: College Gameday
Here are regular season College Gameday episodes since 2006 that I can find that weren't at one of the top five conferences:
2007: Amherst at Williams
2008: Hampton at Florida A&M
2009: #7 TCU at #16 BYU and Army at Air Force
2010: #24 Oregon State at #3 Boise State and #4 TCU at #6 Utah
2011: SMU at #10 Houston
2012: Navy-Troy (Veterans Day Weekend)
2013: Delaware State at North Dakota State
2014: Incarnate Word at NDSU and Yale at Harvard
2015: Richmond at James Madison
2016: Buffalo at #14 Western Michigan
2017: Villanova at James Madison
2018: Cincinnati at #11 UCF
2019: NDSU at South Dakota State
So you can generally count on at least one non P5 site each year. Ranked teams like UCF, Western Michigan, and Houston haven't needed to host big-time teams to get the nod.

Re: College Gameday
On the Fox Sports Gameday, Urban Meyer challenged that he wondered how we would do if we had to play a D1 schedule.
Basically taking a dump on our schedule and conference. Not great.

So that WMU game would be the best comparison for us. They managed to drum up enough hype over a single season to get Gameday on campus despite a no-name opponent.
Can’t see it happening this year. Aside from the fact that our only remaining Saturday home game is Texas State, I think the construction would make it at least undesirable and possibly infeasible to set up around the stadium. Better to have our shiny new addition complete in the background anyway before we try to host.

Re: College Gameday
Honestly, the point about our schedule is fair. The fact that he apparently doesn’t know the difference between Div. 1, FCS, G5 and P5 is ridiculous.

Re: College Gameday
He should be embarrassed by making that statement. It isn't like he didn't coach G5 teams before. He knows that G5 is still D1. Perhaps he meant to say a P5 schedule but that isn't what he said.
