2 penalties all night against GSU. BS refs pushed that game out of our reach.

Re: GSU @ App St. Game Thread
Damn. Great effort to try and come back, but the first 35 minutes were too poor to overcome. There’s a lot of places to look and pin this loss-overall bad offensive game plan, lots of drops, lots of bad passes, missed assignments on defense, missed field goal, really questionable officiating.
Lots to learn from this game, but really disappointing.

Re: GSU @ App St. Game Thread
The team pushed it out of reach. The refs didn't help, but they aren't the cause of putting the team in such a deficit for most of the game.
Time to go 1-0 next week.

Re: GSU @ App St. Game Thread
I’m glad we fought back but I suspect these guys will be massively disappointed in themselves. We’ve had some dud performances but the amount of poor throws, dropped passes etc was absolutely other worldly in this game.
I’m not sure if it was lack of focus or just an avalanche of a bunch of guys all having their off game all at the same time, but a really horrendous show tonight.
Credit to Georgia Southern for once again kicking the shit out of us and embarrassing us on national television. They deserved the win because they executed and we couldn’t.

The teams at fault, but there were several suspect no calls that changed much of the shape of that game.

We didn't help ourselves at all in this game. You can't not show up for 3 quarters and expect to win. But WTH was up with the officiating? So many missed calls and late calls.
The mountains are calling and I must go

Drink had been shifting way too conservative the past few weeks. He thought he could do it again tonight but he simply couldn’t. Tried way too hard to run the ball. Had we passed from the start we win

I don't get what is so hard for Drink and the staff to see when you get the ball to Corey Sutton big things happen. If we got him about 8-12 targets and throw the entire game we win for sure.diehardapp18 wrote: ↑Thu Oct 31, 2019 10:28 pmDrink had been shifting way too conservative the past few weeks. I still think we have a shot next week. This team sees what works and will make adjustments. I fully expect SC to look at the score and feel like there is no way we can beat them. We need to go in there and make a statement. We have an extended week to prep so I do feel good in that regard.

Re: GSU @ App St. Game Thread
We should have never been in a position where bad officiating is the nail in the coffin of a bad effort, but man...I counted at least half a dozen no-calls on PI on important drives, including the blatant one on that final drive.
Yeah, we should have showed up for 4 quarters. Yeah...we should have never been in that position. But when we are, horseshit refs don't help. Every team has a flat game, but the bias was undeniable.
Hopefully this team rages against the Fighting Muschamps next week.

Ceiling for the rest of the year now is the New Orleans Bowl. Which is fine but damn what a bummer. We had gone just far enough to make me believe the Cotton Bowl was possible, this is so deflating

Re: GSU @ App St. Game Thread
Hello all... new guy here but I'm going to give my two cents.
We were manhandled on both sides of th ball...just like last year.
No threat of a pass...we knew what was coming and still couldn't stop the run.
We waited too long to change our offense plan to passing....everyone knows this was GS's weakness...weather be damned.
On a good note...we played our asses off for 10 minutes...
This was tough loss to swallow...I'm not sure we rebound ...at least to where we want to be.

The refs didn't lose the game but definitely missed some calls. They were a mediocre group. I don't think they wanted to be there. My big take away from this game was a lack of preparation.

That’s probably the hardest thing to deal with for me right now. Such a special season now seems like such a regular season.diehardapp18 wrote: ↑Thu Oct 31, 2019 10:38 pmCeiling for the rest of the year now is the New Orleans Bowl. Yes, I may be entitled, as any Georgia Southern fan would dream to be in our shoes, but it stings knowing the NO Bowl is as good as it gets this year.

Screw The Cotton Bowl, the entire team (top to bottom) just got embarrassed two years in a row by Georgia Southern!! I may catch hell for this, but, how the hell do you let that happen!! Re: GSU @ App St. Game Thread
I think now, given the performance tonight, we weren’t as good as our ranking suggested.diehardapp18 wrote: ↑Thu Oct 31, 2019 10:38 pmCeiling for the rest of the year now is the New Orleans Bowl. I know I, like many others, loved to ride high on the ranking wave, but I also know we all had our doubts given some pretty suspect performances at Southern Alabama, home against Charlotte and in Lafayette. Obviously we won all those and the scores eventually looked good, but anyone that watched probably had suspicions. I knew I did but I hoped we’d just sort them out and keep winning.
I had hopes we were a great team and hell im sure the coaches and players did too. Nothing wrong with being a pretty good team. Which would mean the New Orleans Bowl is a very suitable destination.
I’ll also say I thought last year the Ga Southern game was an anomaly due to Zac’s injury. Clearly not. They have our number, destroyed us on the interior and will continue to until we figure out shit out. Very disappointed.
