Gonna disagree there. Their best win was UCF. Remember, a P5 isn't worth a million points just because it's a P5. I'd also argue that Louisiana is a better win for App than both SC and UNC.

Well, if there was any validation to those of us saying that a move to the AAC would be great instead of staying in the SunBelt.....

I really hope the team notices this CFP ranking this week. In particular I hope they notice that Cincinnati was kept higher even with the loss last week. And I genuinely hope App takes it out on the next two opponents they face.

Put away the sharp objects, guys. The poll that matters is the one that comes out next week. The people doing the rankings are still vetting the teams. Let's say Cincinnati beats Memphis and Boise falls to Hawaii (and of course we beat Louisiana), the committee is going to give a razor-sharp look at us and Cincinnati. If that occurs, we have a pretty darn good case.

Agrre 100%, I would say UCF is their best win. But I disagree about UL being a better win than UNC.citroknight wrote: ↑Tue Dec 03, 2019 7:19 pmGonna disagree there. Their best win was UCF. We really have very similar resume with Cincy and if App played Ohio St., well I would expect a similar result.
Boise also has to be thinking they are out as well.

Boise moving up in the polls a spot after squeaking by Colorado State after we dropped several spots in a much better win vs Tx State bothers me....

Win the next 2 and start the season inside the AP and Coaches polls, hold that through til the rankings come out next season. Short term may sting, but there’s still a long term game to play, too. The higher we finish this season, the better shot we have next season.
Give 'em hell!

Re: CFP New
If Memphis wins the next two they finish as highest G5. It is not automatic that we do even if we win both and Memphis loses one of next two. Cincy would then be in driver's seat and if both of them take a loss then Boise State will finish tops among G5 at the very end if they win. We still need Cincy, Memphis, and Boise all three to take a loss and we must win our last two for that to happen.

I too believe they will look a little closer at this if we take care of ULL sufficiently and Cinci squeaks by Memphis. If they look closer , hopefully they will see we had stronger wins to go with our 1 loss (by 3) to a winning record and bowl bound G.S.

Re: CFP New
How many times do those of us who want to move to the AAC have to say this. The SBC is considered the worst league. We have to win by as much as possible. There is no score that is too much for us to win by. If we could somehow win 50-0 against ULL I would say do it. We needed to average about 24-30 per win and go undefeated to even be in a NY6.AppStAlum2007 wrote: ↑Tue Dec 03, 2019 7:26 pmI really hope the team notices this CFP ranking this week. Re: CFP New
Our shot is gone. A 1 loss AAC Champ gets in over a 1 loss SBC Champ. This is not a sky is falling but more like an educated and realistic look at the chances. We had to be just behind Memphis and ahead of Cincy to have any shot.General Moore wrote: ↑Tue Dec 03, 2019 7:50 pmThank you for saying what I was thinking.AppGrad78 wrote: ↑Tue Dec 03, 2019 7:29 pmPut away the sharp objects, guys. Re: CFP New
Yes, the long game here. I know that our NY6 chances were gone once we lost a game and 3 G5 teams had just 1 loss from the AAC or MWC for this year but the long game next year. We need to win big against ULL and in our bowl game. We could potentially finish in the 16-18 range in the final polls and with all we have coming back we could be a preseason top 20 team next year with a top 18 or so finish this year. That would put us squarely in the driver's seat with road games against a ranked Wisconsin team and Wake Forest who should be receiving votes in the preseason. If we win our next 5 games we could possibly be top 15 and be the talk of the country from G5. Then we just have to keep on winning to reach that goal.BeauFoster wrote: ↑Tue Dec 03, 2019 7:46 pmWin the next 2 and start the season inside the AP and Coaches polls, hold that through til the rankings come out next season. Message to our team and Drink, win by as much as possible. Show no mercy and don't just be okay with winning. Win big. If we win big the committee will take notice and we will surpass the AAC next year.

Re: CFP New
Would someone mind starting a new thread on how proud we are of App State bring ranked #21 in the CFP poll. So the real positive will be a real positive. I don't remember any posts back in August other than we would have to be 12-0 to make the NY6. We are 11-1 and just there knocking on the door. Very proud of those kids!

At this point I just want a win in the next two, if its by 1 point or 51, I don't care...I want to see App win its 4th straight SBC title, its 5th straight bowl game and finish the season ranked...I would say that is one heck of a season.AppStFan1 wrote: ↑Tue Dec 03, 2019 8:00 pmYes, the long game here. True dat. Congrats to your conference on a great year, some really solid teams. I still think 2 loss Cincy < 1 loss App.citroknight wrote: ↑Tue Dec 03, 2019 7:19 pmGonna disagree there. Re: CFP New
I agree for now but I'm saying if anyone thinks we have a shot that is the only way to do it. We must win by 50 and hope that Boise State loses and the AAC title game is close. That is the only way we have a shot and even then I'm not sure if that would do it.APP93 wrote: ↑Tue Dec 03, 2019 8:18 pmAt this point I just want a win in the next two, if its by 1 point or 51, I don't care...I want to see App win its 4th straight SBC title, its 5th straight bowl game and finish the season ranked...I would say that is one heck of a season.AppStFan1 wrote: ↑Tue Dec 03, 2019 8:00 pmYes, the long game here.
