Sounds like deja vu from Mack Brownmgsouth wrote: ↑Mon Dec 09, 2019 10:01 amExactly. He has no character. His only loyalty is to him and his. I will always pull for Coach Satt. He gave APP his all both as a player and a coach. He didn't owe us anything else. But Drink is a selfish silver tongued clown. We got scammed plain and simple. Like I said in another thread, I hope he loses every Saturday and is fired in 3 years or less. Then I hope he never even sniffs another HC gig. Now, lets move on and promote Clark!sappsurapp wrote: ↑Mon Dec 09, 2019 9:12 amSo, where have I heard that "it's Fake News" before, Hmm. "not a stepping stone" Hmm. Now, that's a coach with High character and loyalty to his players that got him elevated, ya think?

While Evans may consider a grad transfer to raise his profile, I would think the risk is too great he could get buried in the depth chart.yosef69 wrote: ↑Mon Dec 09, 2019 10:54 amThe only place Evans is transfering to is the nfl.John-N-Houston wrote: ↑Mon Dec 09, 2019 10:51 amI just hope that Drinkwitz doesn’t pull a “General Sherman” and burn Atlanta on his way out! I would lose all respect for Drinkwitz if he were to raid our players, our coaching staff and OUR recruits!NattyBumppo'sRevenge wrote: ↑Mon Dec 09, 2019 8:44 amOne of the silver linings is that next year's roster is very strong and will help with the transition of the new coach. If we were hiring after next year, they'd be coming into a situation with almost an entirely new offense.
Either enter the draft now (possible, especially after seeing what happened to Jalin Moore) or be the featured back for another year here and go in strong next year.

Evans should play his final year at APP, that is his best option.

Yeah I know Shawn has been doing good work already. Would be nice to at least see him named interim HC quickly.

I think that you have to wait to announce that only after Drink is officially announced at Misery.

Yeah I think we are waiting on the diet dew to be formally announced. I do hope Clark is given a real opportunity to be our HC and not just the interim. I feel the kids would run through a brick wall for him.

Re: Our Next Head Mountaineer
I would guess that, if Clark is to be named interim HC for the bowl game, that announcement would be made within moments of the Missouri presser ending. It would just make sense from a continuity standpoint, while still allowing the other school to have their moment announcing their new HC.

Guys, like you, I enjoy the mutual disgust we have for each other's program and look forward to that continuing. However, if I can be a grown up for just a minute, Charlotte's success is mostly independent of App's and vice-versa. Sure, we will compete for some of the same recruits, but there are enough out there for both of us to be successful. And we don't really compete for fans, because the bandwagon losers are not really coming to either of us. So, I wish you good luck on this hire.
Hire yourself a good one, and I will go back to pulling for your demise as it is my job as a fan of another team. Have safe and happy holidays.

Good chances you may be in the same position if your coach can continue the momentum. Good luck and congratulations on your first bowl game.Nugget49 wrote: ↑Mon Dec 09, 2019 12:11 pmGuys, like you, I enjoy the mutual disgust we have for each other's program and look forward to that continuing. Re: Our Next Head Mountaineer
I believe that Jones married Tommy Sofield's daughter earlier this year. He may have just been hanging out at the game with his father-in-law who lives in Boone, built the practice facility that bears his last name, played football for App State back in the 70's, is a big contributor to athletics, and is on the sidelines pretty much every game.
I don't see him leaving Louisville, but stranger things have happened. Maybe his new wife wants to come back to Boone.

Clark may very well be the guy but I think we need to really careful about effectively allowing the players to select the next coach. My gut tells me that they’re asking for him for all of the right reasons but we need someone who will maintain player discipline and not be afraid to crack the whip so to speak.

If Riley is not ready for OC or leaves with what's his name, could we afford Lonnie Galloway back to Boone?

Re: Our Next Head Mountaineer
Not sure about panic. I’ll call it concern at this point. We already have two “decommits” at this point per 247. Typically, recruits hate uncertainty. We will have had three HCs in three years. I believe that early signing is in eight days. By then we should know much more about staff retention and the state of 2020 recruiting. Panic may still not describe the situation. Try disgust.HighPointApp wrote: ↑Mon Dec 09, 2019 10:54 amNO need to panic.John-N-Houston wrote: ↑Mon Dec 09, 2019 10:51 amI just hope that Drinkwitz doesn’t pull a “General Sherman” and burn Atlanta on his way out! He will leave Louisville in a heart beat. He's not the biggest fan of that place. Only went because he needed a job.PoplarHillApp wrote: ↑Mon Dec 09, 2019 12:31 pmI don't see him leaving Louisville, but stranger things have happened. Maybe his new wife wants to come back to Boone.

What's the feeling on Shawn Elliot? Would he come back? He's been through the ringer at SC and done well handling the reins at Ga St. He's got experience now.

Not a chance. Burned too many bridges with some questionable recruiting tactics while at GaSt.Cro-Magnon App wrote: ↑Mon Dec 09, 2019 1:38 pmWhat's the feeling on Shawn Elliot? Would he come back? He's been through the ringer at SC and done well handling the reins at Ga St. He's got experience now.

Per FootballScoop:
Appalachian State: A number of reports are sharing that assistant head coach Shawn Clark is a strong candidate to replace Eli Drinkwitz as the program’s head coach. Stay tuned.
