Re: App @ WF Friday Sept 11
How funny would a white out be at their stadium so you could really tell. I personally don’t like them at home but a 10 beat wake shirt on the road, proceeds to Yosef, ultimate troll.

Re: App @ WF Friday Sept 11
We do have something to gain by playing those teams...a win that counts toward bowl eligibility. You schedule it early because despite it being a weak opponent, fans should be itching to get back to Boone while the weather is nice.
Please, do not let us become another fanbase who says "we have nothing to gain and everything to lose" about opponents. Fan bases have treated us like that for years and still do. It sucks to hear that so I don't want us saying that ourselves.
That said...the Sunbelt does us no favors with SOS, so we need to aim for at least a top 100 SOS every year and schedule OOC with that in mind.

Unfortunately, unlike this year with UNC, i won't be able to buy Wake's season tickets and unload the other five games. With the Mack hype and Miami and Clemson on the schedule, it was an easy sell this year.

Re: App @ WF Friday Sept 11
The issue is the smaller seating capacity of just 31,500 at BB&T Field (Groves Stadium, as I remember it) will make tickets much harder to come by.
Sometimes it's better to be lucky than good.

We will have as many fans as can get tickets. Have no idea what that # is going to be.ericsaid wrote: ↑Mon Dec 23, 2019 12:08 pmApp should have far more than 15,000 in Winston-Salem. I'd honestly expect 60/40 in favor of App for the game. The only difference between this and a home game is student attendance. If I'm App, I'm finding ways to bus students down the mountain in droves.
Bottom line is that if App can't get 20,000 to 25,000 in Winston-Salem, what was the point of scheduling a game against ECU in Charlotte?

Lord the “don’t overlook Morgan State” fears have already crept in. I hope our hoops and baseball teams can do something. Will be a long time until that first game and way too much BS to toss around.

Re: App @ WF Friday Sept 11
I have seen that in the news. It is interesting because the sentiment around is that Basham could go first round right now. Media is not as high on him as the NFL teams are. If all 3 come back they should be ranked in the preseason. We will find out just how good we are by the end of week 3. We should face at least 2 first round picks next year.

We can't become like Michigan was and overlook these teams. Morgan State is not very good but I want to respect them and really put it on those guys. We need to get plenty of young guys in, stay healthy, and really put up a lot of points.
Take it one game at a time and don't overlook anyone. We need to treat every team like they are our Super Bowl. We just went 13-1 and will finish in the top 20 but our 2020 team is going to be more experienced and talented than our 2019 team.
With that said, I don't like FCS games. I think we need to drop them and try to play another G5 team. I don't see any benefit of this. I mean if we beat them by 70 people will say it was expected but if we only won by 10 or lost people would say we are overrated and think the sky is falling. We don't have the money to pay FCS teams the big money games they need and I would not do it. My only complaint on Gillin is still playing these games. I would love to drop them and add CUSA, AAC, or MAC team to the schedule.

I'm not knocking Morgan St or ETSU or whoever, but I'm pretty sure any competent football FBS program wouldn't overlook a FCS opponent that just one two National Championships.AppStFan1 wrote: ↑Sun Dec 22, 2019 11:42 pmI know some make a joke and think who cares about Morgan State but our entire team better care 100%. Re: App @ WF Friday Sept 11
We were close but not quite what NDSU is now. I can honestly say that when we did what we did it was unprecedented but NDSU has outdone anything GSU, App, Marshall, YSU, Montana, and the rest ever thought about doing. We never beat out a P5 program for a recruit while in FCS but they have done it a few times. I honestly hope they never get the money and move up because they would be right there with us, UCF, Memphis, Boise, Cincy, etc for the NY6 conversation. We need to tip our cap to them. I don't want any part of NDSU right now honestly. I think we would beat them for sure but I think they could keep it close. I have seen them play 3 times this year and they most definitely could beat a lot of P5 teams right now.spacemonkey wrote: ↑Tue Dec 24, 2019 1:16 amspacemonkey wrote: ↑Mon Dec 23, 2019 12:03 pmI know if we were playing NDSU, I WOULD BE WORRIED. Being Wake's first home game it will probably make it a harder ticket to find unfortunately as well. Shocked they are play at ODU the first week.
I'm hoping some of my contacts around work who have season tickets for Wake won't be able to make it and I can get some.

Back in the day when we played them we represented very well on both sides of the field. Last one I attended was a very nice win for the good guys. Can't remember if we still had the same gold helmets they wear or if we had gone to the black with snow capped A that year. Been a long time ago. It will be a packed house none the less. Give'em Hell!

This Sucks! For the sake of everything that is good and holy, please leave Friday nights alone for high school football ...
There will be a large number of fans who will have to choose between App and their home town high school team plus not to mention no way we’re able to showcase our brand to recruits. Many fans may not be able to make the trip with work and traffic at the end of the week. I just hate college football being moved to Friday nights, Of course I’m biased because I don’t have the ability to choose.

Norfolk/Tidewater area is a recruiting goldmine. That’s why UNC,ECU, and Va Tech have or will play there.biggie wrote: ↑Tue Dec 24, 2019 9:46 amBeing Wake's first home game it will probably make it a harder ticket to find unfortunately as well. Shocked they are play at ODU the first week.

ECU is closer to the tidewater than they are to Charlotte. Makes sense to connect with that area based purely on the fact that they are trying to own the east.proasu89 wrote: ↑Mon Dec 30, 2019 12:06 pmNorfolk/Tidewater area is a recruiting goldmine. Re: App @ WF Friday Sept 11
App is playing at Wake, I'm pretty sure that the stadium will be filled. Traffic in Winston-Salem sucks between 4:30 PM and 5:45 PM or so but once your get out of Clemmons and into the 4 lanes coming from the East it should be easy enough to get to. I for one will be leaving work and heading directly over.CoachRob wrote: ↑Tue Dec 24, 2019 8:38 pmThis Sucks!
