Re: Big Ten Done
Lots of misinformation out there right now, seems the normal sports media outlets aren't too reliable right now.

Yeah....let's go with that....AppStateSteve wrote: ↑Mon Aug 10, 2020 2:36 pm

Re: Big Ten Done
If several A5 conferences cancel the season, does this mean the Sun Belt has a chance to make the playoffs?

Re: Big Ten Done
It's a fluid situation now. If the ACC & SEC get the Big 12 to play, it may cause the B1G to change their "decision" prior to that decision being announced .

Re: Big Ten Done
Not sure how accurate it is, but just saw on IG a post stating “Sunbelt plans to follow SEC’s lead and play football this fall.”
Hope it’s true!
*Edit*
Brett McMurphy just tweeted the same thing.

Re: Big Ten Done
How? Its not like this magically makes up move up to a new conference. Our schedule is not what it once was so we will not have much in the way of big tv games. I'm not sure this helps us at all. We aren't playing the SEC. Im curious to know if there is something behind the scene tying the Belt to the SEC decision beyond the idea of a similar geographical footprint. Otherwise, I don't think any of this actually helps us.

Re: Big Ten Done
Saw some rumors that Ohio State is considering joining the SEC, at least for this year?!? Let's invite them to the Sun Belt

Re: Big Ten Done
I couldn't speak to any behind the scenes ties between the Belt and the SEC, but there is a lot of scheduling for OOC games between the two....a function of the same geographic footprint. We also share an officiating pool with them. In general, we seem to walk in their footsteps most of the time.appdaze wrote: ↑Tue Aug 11, 2020 8:46 amHow? UMASS just cancelled football for the season so we're now without any OOC games....

Re: Big Ten Done
I’m actually starting to lean toward spring ball. I just hate it for the players. We have such a great class of guys who will graduate. I really want them to have a chance to shine. But for that to happen we need everyone in college football to make the same decision. What a mess.

Re: Big Ten Done
I'm no expert but it seems to me that the players (and they should have voice in the decision) aren't necessarily going to be better protected from the virus if left to their own devices. Especially those from lower economic environments whose families might not be able to work remotely from home.
Kids have been partying in large groups all across the country even with restrictions in place. At least on a college football team the coaches have one of the biggest incentives to influence behavior...if you don't follow the Covid rules...you don't play or practice for two weeks as you're in quarantine. PLUS, they would have ready access to medical professionals whom I would assume would be monitoring them closely...I doubt they'd get that at home. just my opinion.

Re: Big Ten Done
Suggestion: Don't give the 5 conferences that go by the Power 5 or Autonomous 5 moniker the benefit. I can't control what they call themselves but I can control what I call them and I suggest you do the same. They are collectively a bunch of prigs so I suggest we call them the Prig 5.
I know of at least one school in this state that fits the below to the letter in the field of athletics.
prig
/priɡ/
noun
a self-righteously moralistic person who behaves as if superior to others.
This is my very generic signature added to each post.
