Re: Marshall
Some friends and I ( all App grads) were watching some college football one Saturday evening in the early/mid 90s (can't remember the particular game or what channel), but it was a nationally televised game with 2 P5 teams (although back then P5 in its present form did not exist). Anyway, while we were watching the game there was a game break and they threw it to KBS to shown an App vs Marshall highlight and I believe it was an App pick 6. I wonder if this was the play? Needless to say we were all stunned, we all looked around and said to each other, "did they just really throw it to KBS for a game break"...it was so random, I'll never forget it. We had always had a great program and had lots of success, but nothing like 2005 to present, which made this KBS highlight even that more random to me as I think about it today. We were not really known nationally back then, so curious why they would have shown a I AA highlight like that, even if it was vs #1 Marshall.

Re: Marshall
I would have only been 8, but was this the game where it rained a lot? If so, my then 5 year old brother tried to storm the field after the game. Haha. I've had many great memories over the years. The Miracle On The Mountain game in 2002 was the first time my dad and I had returned to the high country after his parents passed away, both in July of 2002. They lived in Ashe County. It was awesome seeing him smile as we jumped up and down together when the 2 point conversion was returned off the interception. So many great memories in Boone.

Yes, that was this game. ESPN cut in to show the pick six that clinched the win. That was a crazy, fun night.APP93 wrote: ↑Wed Aug 19, 2020 9:04 pmSome friends and I ( all App grads) were watching some college football one Saturday evening in the early/mid 90s (can't remember the particular game or what channel), but it was a nationally televised game with 2 P5 teams (although back then P5 in its present form did not exist). I have no way of knowing what one remembers however, it was a cold drizzle , interrupted by periods of rain , all night.

Re: Marshall
I remember the rain and taking my young 6 year old son to the game. The defense led by DiBernardo and Coakley stymied Jim Donnans #1 Marshall. Satterfield and Shawn Elliot also had big rolls in that game.

Re: Marshall
Tried to take our 3 boys to the game, cold and rain put a end to that. Sold our tickets at the gate, but all was not lost . We were hooked on App football from there on, oldest son graduated in 2006. We did make it to the "Miracle on the Mountain though. Great memories!

Re: Marshall
Went to the game at Marshall in ‘95 where won 10-7 on Satterfield’s late TD. Couldn’t have been more than a couple of hundred App fans there. Times have changed with our fans traveling for sure!

Re: Marshall
I was there too, and I have no doubt that Chris Parker is still having Dexter Coakley nightmares.
