Yep, game was scheduled last fall. This game is not a replacement for the McNeese game. Hopefully we will get a home FBS out of conference game.asumike83 wrote:Did you read the article on GoASU? I never complained about scheduling before but wasn't one of the much hyped benefits of FBS to play a better, stronger schedule? What the hell is Cobb doing? This is embarrassing.
Worst game ever is a bit dramatic. We played A&T and Savannah State in consecutive weeks in 2011. After the last Michigan game we hosted Lenoir Rhyne.

Bingo!Saint3333 wrote:Maybe for now, but all it takes in one Big Ten schools to be choosen for SOS over another conference. The other three major conferences have been mute on the subject, indicating they prefer the status quo. The ACC officials I've talked to privately say that they have no plans to discontinue playing FCS teams. This idea is solely the creation of the Big Ten and doesn't appear to be gaining momentum.

Seems like a lot of knee jerk reaction to Campbell, but as stated several times above, this wasn't a replacement for McNeese. We are going to be breaking in a new QB and this game will be a great chance for reps and to fix issues identified in the Michigan game. If we're dinged up, we can rest players. This game serves a purpose. Nobody wants to see them as a regular addition to our schedule, but there is no reason to get upset. They are on par with the Monmouth's and Jacksonville U games we've had.
If I had my druthers, I would rather play this game before Michigan to give the new QB the practice, but OOC means little in 2014 (not bowl eligible) so it probably works out best for reasons stated above. We will be playing 11 FBS games for the rest of our schedule. Anyone who thinks the 2014 schedule isn't a huge step forward should pull their head out of the sand. Teams schedule cupcake a game for a reason. The best teams in the nation do it.

Everybody knows schedule management is very easy. Your conference games are basically already set so you don't have to do anything. Your OOC games are easy too. Determine which dates are left and then call your choice of FBS or FCS opponents based on the strength of opponent desired for that given week and tell them WE want to play them. You then TELL them the game will be in Boone, at their location or at a neutral site depending on our needs. If they already have a game scheduled for that date you just ask them to change their schedule to accommodate ASU's scheduling needs. I have never heard of any opponents pushing back on this approach, ever. They are ALWAYS very glad to work with App by rearranging their schedule to meet our needs. You do not have to do all this complex, figuring out whether they have an open date or not, or even whether they even want to play us. That is nonsense.
It is very simple a fifth grader could do it. I just don't know what all the fuss is about. Why does everyone think it is so challenging?

Yeah I jumped the gun with a knee jerk response. Should have had all the facts before I start running my mouth. I didn't read the GoASU article either so I just look stupid all the way around. Still can't believe we scheduled Campbell University though.

We are going to need healing time after our trip to Michigan.

Everybody has seen "The Longest Yard"?
We'd start every season against Appalachian State or some slack D-II team. Kick the living xxxx out of them. Get their confidence up.
Well it's our turn now.

Marshall's OOC is full through 2016. And from what Ive been told 2017 and 2019 are full. The contracted games just haven't been announced. So I doubt Marshall has room unless it's 2020 or after.JTApps1 wrote:Appersrule wrote:Hopefully this means we will hear about the rest of our non-conference slate in the near future. Getting pumped, especially if the ECU and Marshall rumors turn out to be true.

Negative...I'd put Jacksonville as a bigger dud. At least Campbell is in-state.fjblair wrote:I don't know the nuts and bolts and technicalities of scheduling but are we supposed to believe that Campbell university is the only FCS team we could pay to come to Boone and play us?
