Seems to me some said we better enjoy success while Satt was at App.... 3 coaches later.....here we are.....still
Re: CCU Fan Board
The App State football team is well aware of all the attention CCU is getting. App State still has good bit to go before they meet CCU. It is good for the Belt, but a little perplexing at the moment. Lets just watch this play out by 11/21 around 9pm we may see who CCU really is.....I know who they are but ill leave it at that. I hope they are in the top 10 on November 21st.ah59396 wrote: ↑Tue Nov 03, 2020 11:33 amWe need to beat them. I’m not convinced App can beat them because I’ve yet to see us really play mean. I’m hoping our guys are reading the news about how we’ve fallen off and have a serious chip on our shoulder.

Agreed. Most will get another year. I would be shocked if there are more than 5 P5 HC changes, especially ones where there is a pretty good buyout. It would not surprise me if we only saw 1-2 in the southeast/east region.mikeyosef wrote: ↑Tue Nov 03, 2020 11:43 amThis being a Covid year I'm guessing a lot of coaches who would be seeking other employment in a normal year will get another try. There won't be a ton of openings for him but he only needs one. Vanderbilt is a job that I think he could land. Virginia Tech may keep Fuente after all if they can finish ranked. NC State is doing well enough they may keep their coach. I think South Carolina should give him a look but I'm not sure they will pay that buyout and hire a SBC coach. If Muschamp can win 4-5 games then I think he would stay one more year anyway.

I also hope they are in the top 10 as well. The best thing for the SBC is to have 2 teams ranked and a 3rd receiving votes by the end of the year.App90 wrote: ↑Tue Nov 03, 2020 1:47 pmThe App State football team is well aware of all the attention CCU is getting. I can see a situation where Harbaugh leaves Michigan and they take Fickell from Cincinnati. And Cincinnati in turn takes Chadwell from Coastal.mikeyosef wrote: ↑Tue Nov 03, 2020 11:43 amThis being a Covid year I'm guessing a lot of coaches who would be seeking other employment in a normal year will get another try. Cincinnati is as close to a P5 job as you can get in G5 and a dramatic jump in caliber and pay from Coastal.

Re: CCU Fan Board
I remember the last time we played CCU on Thanksgiving weekend. I believe it was around 2006. I made a banner that said "Choke the Chickens" and hung it over the railing in 111. One of their coaches got ticked and ripped it downappstate77 wrote: ↑Tue Nov 03, 2020 11:45 amSee you on Turkey Week Chants. Once you strap the helmet on, talk becomes cheap.

I highly doubt Fickell takes the Michigan job, unless it's the only high profile OR to make a run at him(I think there will be about three others). I do believe this is Fickells last year at Cincinnati. I also believe that Cincinnati has their next HC already on their staff in Marcus Freeman.ah59396 wrote: ↑Tue Nov 03, 2020 3:13 pmI can see a situation where Harbaugh leaves Michigan and they take Fickell from Cincinnati. Chadwell has had a great season, so great in fact a bottom tier P5 team with delusions of grandeur will make him the offer he can not refuse. Tennessee, Syracuse, Maryland (If Locksley can't string some wins together) come to mind. Vandy is such a wild card in my books, I doubt they make a "splash" hire. I also believe this will be Napier's last year at ULL, to me it's get out now or stay for life.

Re: CCU Fan Board
If I'm the Cincy AD I would go hard after Chadwell, if he wins the Sun Belt and Fickell leaves. They could be a P5 in a few years and are as close as you can get from G5 level, like someone said, and it would be a step up for him. I also think Vanderbilt would need to look hard at him. I don't see Napier going to another G5 but I could see him being a fit for Vandy.NavyApp wrote: ↑Tue Nov 03, 2020 4:42 pmI highly doubt Fickell takes the Michigan job, unless it's the only high profile OR to make a run at him(I think there will be about three others). Re: CCU Fan Board
Notice that I said "if he wins the Sun Belt". If Chadwell can do that then he would have done two things that Napier had not been able to do in unseating App State and finishing in the top 15 of the polls. I hope that we put a stop to it but Chadwell is going to be a hot G5 name if he indeed wins the Sun Belt and finishes that high in the polls.
I wonder if Napier would even leave UL for Cincy?

Re: CCU Fan Board
One has nothing to do with the other. Napier has proven he can build a program that was on the down turn. Chadwell has inherited a group of good players with experience. Napier may not want to go to Cincy, but he would be called to gauge interest before Chadwell.AppStFan1 wrote: ↑Tue Nov 03, 2020 6:17 pmNotice that I said "if he wins the Sun Belt". Re: CCU Fan Board
What you just described is what happened last year. Drink inherited good players with experience while Napier had proven he could build a program and had ULL receiving votes in the polls. Missouri went for Drink instead.AppSt94 wrote: ↑Tue Nov 03, 2020 6:54 pmOne has nothing to do with the other. Napier has proven he can build a program that was on the down turn. Both Napier and Chadwell have agents so I am sure they are pushing hard for their guys. If Chadwell can knock off App and finish ranked I would not be shocked if a P5 or better paying G5 went after him. I don't disagree with your premise because last year I would have taken Napier over Drink but I believe there is a chance that Chadwell brings more name pop with what CCU is doing and if he does what Napier has not been able to do then I would have to think he becomes a legit P5 candidate this year.

“this year Coastal is the big hype“
“I’m just jealous of their attention”
They didn’t get the prime CBS National Network game. WE DID.
We got attention. We didn’t win. So the attention quickly moved on.

It takes years to build that respect but you can lose the hype and your momentum with just one loss. We can get it back but we will have to beat two ranked teams and exact revenge on our rival who has had our number lately.

I really don't think App has lost any significant amount of respect from a single loss. The media just needs a darling, and they're always looking for the next darling. Right now the CCU story is captivating because they're exceeding expectations. If App takes care of business, we'll get back into the spotlight.

Re: CCU Fan Board
How dare a fanbase be confident in their successful team....
Coastal didn't choke to Georgia Southern so at this point, they deserve to be confident.
I just wish they were this good in 2018-2019 instead of being a meaningless win for us from the national perspective. Would have been nice to have another quality opponent for those teams to face.

I agree that we can get back there. If we take care of business, we will 100% be back in the fold. If we aren't making silly mistakes and win against Marshall, we would be in the top 15 instead of CCU and the talk would be more about the league instead of just them.Yosef84 wrote: ↑Tue Nov 03, 2020 10:41 pmI really don't think App has lost any significant amount of respect from a single loss. My concern is that while we have the talent to do it, we have yet to show improvement that you would expect, and are still making mistakes that a veteran team like ours should not be making.

If you watch our game against them from 2018 and 2019 they had definitely improved last year. They looked to be ready to contend this year.SayYesToTheRock wrote: ↑Wed Nov 04, 2020 1:23 amHow dare a fanbase be confident in their successful team....

The main reason they were not as good is because Moglia had abandoned the Carolinas in recruiting and they were getting less and less talent. Chadwell took over and immediately recruited the Carolinas hard.
