If I'm reading the chart and understanding you correctly, I believe you are counting players who didn't play at Marshall, which isn't the same as players who were *unavailable* to play. As noted, we did have a few guys injured for that game, but I don't think it was an especially large number.moonshine wrote: ↑Thu Nov 12, 2020 10:41 amAccording to the stats (see pg 15), we had over 20 players out against Marshall including the already mentioned starters in Williams and Pearson. Several of the players missing have contributed this season like Haigler and Noel, while a couple players, McLeod and Wells, who were out have even started a game this season. The team also lost Virgil and Crosby to injury in the game against the Herd. Add on to the fact that Marshall had an extra week to prepare for App and you can see the deck was stacked against our guys heading into Huntington.
This is not to make excuses, Marshall played better and deserved to win. I'm merely trying to point out that we can't look at that game as a barometer once you take all those variables into consideration. CCU looks complete in all phases and the Cajuns offense can be a beast when it's clicking. Both CoastaLLLLLL and ULLLLLLL may end up beating App this season or next, hell they have to at some point right but the east and the Sun Belt still run through these mountains.
I'm glad to see our conference mates stepping their game up and happy for their individual success as well as the light they are helping to shine on the Sun Belt. However, let us remember, everyone else is trying to catch App, not the other way around.

You are probably correct, it's hard to decipher. I took the ellipses to mean they were unavailable because 18 players for the Campbell game have (...).EastHallApp wrote: ↑Thu Nov 12, 2020 11:28 amIf I'm reading the chart and understanding you correctly, I believe you are counting players who didn't play at Marshall, which isn't the same as players who were *unavailable* to play. I also got mixed up with Haigler and Heilig on season contributions. Heilig was available and has contributed 11 total tackles so far. Haigler has yet to post any stats.

Re: Remaining results
Take a look at the names on that list that didn't play. They either don't play or have rarely played this season for the majority of those names. Pearson & Williams were the only 2 major contributors. Most of them probably didn't travel with the team.moonshine wrote: ↑Thu Nov 12, 2020 10:41 amAccording to the stats (see pg 15), we had over 20 players out against Marshall including the already mentioned starters in Williams and Pearson. Re: Remaining results
The Texas State announcers mentioned during the broadcast that we were down players against Marshall due to COVID. Now, they could have easily mistaken the Campbell total for Marshall, but I took it as new information about the game.moonshine wrote: ↑Thu Nov 12, 2020 10:41 amAccording to the stats (see pg 15), we had over 20 players out against Marshall including the already mentioned starters in Williams and Pearson. No excuses, but I still believe in our track record in previous seasons for winning games down the stretch.

Re: Remaining results
I was about to say the same thing. There is no reason to worry about any other games beyond that as well. With this virus there is no guarantee that any games are played and any team could have to go without key players from week to week. We need to see that we are 100% and the game is going to play first. A loss this weekend would basically destroy any good we would get from those wins anyway. We can't have two losses or else we will need a lot of help to accomplish our top goals.

We lost 1 game to a good team down 18 players in a weird year.
I'm not sure why many don't have faith in this team. While it's certainly hard to repeat every year, we control our destiny with a group of players with a history of going 1-0 week after week after week.
2013: 4-8
2014: 7-5
Last 14 normal seasons:
2005: 12-3 (fcs & conference champs)
2006: 14-1 (fcs & conference champs)
2007: 13-2 (fcs & conference champs)
2008: 11-3 (conference champs)
2009: 11-3 (conference champs)
2010: 10-3 (conference champs)
2011: 8-4
2012: 8-4 (conference champs)
2015: 11-2 (bowl champs)
2016: 10-3 (conference & bowl champs)
2017: 9-4 (conference & bowl champs)
2018: 11-2 (conference & bowl champs)
2019: 13-1 (conference & bowl champs)
2020: 5-1
Fixed it. Our run far extends the last 5 years whenever no postseason bans exist...

Re: Remaining results
We have the capability to beat everyone left on our schedule. I just question how well we can execute.
I hope and anticipate we will win out, but if I had to bet money I’d guess we drop at least one along the way.

Two (hopefully) motivating factors for our guys... 1. Not allowing CCU to become the first 8-0 team in SBC history, and 2. Running the conference is one of the few firsts we have yet to accomplish...

Several teams have gone 8-0 in Sun Belt play. We just aren't one of them.booneboy92 wrote: ↑Fri Nov 13, 2020 11:26 amTwo (hopefully) motivating factors for our guys... 1. I don't think we should lack for motivation, in any case.

Re: Remaining results
I realize other teams have gone 8-0 in the Sun Belt, but I was referring to them possibly going 8-0 to start the season (in and out of conference)... From what I read in an article about their Troy game’s postponement, that could have made them the first SBC team to achieve that particular record. We either set or tied the current record last year with our 7-0 start (then came Halloween). And no, I don’t think they necessarily need extra motivation, but every little bit counts!EastHallApp wrote: ↑Fri Nov 13, 2020 11:47 amSeveral teams have gone 8-0 in Sun Belt play. Re: Remaining results
If CCU is EVER going to beat us, this has to be the year. They will have everything going for them. And we will still be favored. I've seen nothing out of any team remaining on our schedule that has me thinking we won't win barring injury or COVID taking out players. Let's keep this going.

Re: Remaining results
Vegas favoring App @ CCU is the last thing I want to see, talk about motivating the higher ranked team at home.

I'd be shocked if we're favored on the road. I wouldn't bet against us either, though.rbarthle17 wrote: ↑Fri Nov 13, 2020 12:03 pmIf CCU is EVER going to beat us, this has to be the year. ESPN predictor has Coastal ahead of App by 2%.
ESPN also had us losing to UNC and SC last year, so take that thing with a massive grain of salt.
