I believe Howell was not at 100% during camp that year. Hope he and X can push each other this year.app97 wrote: ↑Sat Jan 02, 2021 12:57 pmHowell was great when he won the starting job as a freshman. I suppose Subotch simply won the job back last year.Appstate88 wrote: ↑Sat Jan 02, 2021 9:37 amGood for X-man. Clayton Howell (Previous Freshman All American) is the better punter IMO. https://appstatesports.com/sports/footb ... owell/6116appstate24 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 31, 2020 4:21 pmXavier Subotsch has announced he is also returning for 2021!
Great news! X has been very good and consistent the past couple of years.

Not surprised Subotsch is coming back...he's clearly part of Australian meddling into American college football. Started innocently enough with the Outback Bowl but now they've successfully placed Australian punters throughout our land. Wonder which position group is next?
Pretty scary stuff especially when you consider, which everyone knows...that Australia is peopled entirely of criminals..

Re: Decision Announcements
As of now, looks like we are only replacing 2 starters on the oline and SJC at CB. That’s if Jolly stays and you exclude Malik whether he stays or not because Sutton returning. Guessing Daley takes the RG position and Luke Smith at C. Stephen Jones appears ready to start at CB for Shemar. Thoughts?

Right, but Hardy started a few games including the last couple and played a good bit in reserve before that, so we're basically considering him a returning starter.Tatedc wrote: ↑Mon Jan 04, 2021 10:57 amReplacing 3 at OL (Hannon, Garrison and Neuzil).NattyBumppo'sRevenge wrote: ↑Mon Jan 04, 2021 10:37 amAs of now, looks like we are only replacing 2 starters on the oline and SJC at CB. Re: Decision Announcements
Well, if we're talking about the whole roster, there's also the matter of replacing our QB, but I think we've discussed that elsewhere.NattyBumppo'sRevenge wrote: ↑Mon Jan 04, 2021 10:37 amAs of now, looks like we are only replacing 2 starters on the oline and SJC at CB. Will be interesting to see if it's as simple as a few vets stepping in as starters, or if there's more competition from younger players. I think you're right on Daley. Smith would also be my guess at C, but not with as high a level of confidence.
At corner, Jones will play a lot, whether replacing SJC or as a nickel. But I think one or more freshmen will make a run at that spot.
I could see a couple spots where young guys might push returning starters as well. Wells, Pallant, Hampton (though he was basically a co-starter this year). Maybe someone a little more off the radar, who knows.

Hunter to Center may be why he decided to return. It's got to improve his Draft status if he proves to be effective as a Center & Guard.

Wonder if the emergence of Peoples and Noel along with Daetrich (who I assume will be back from his injury) factored into his decision to move on?

Re: Decision Announcements
Hunter is a little too small for the NFL at guard or center and I'm sure he knows that he is likely to be a tryout regardless if he stays or goes now. I would imagine he just felt we had unfinished business and that both the NFL tryout opportunity and job markets would be better in a year.

Re: Decision Announcements
I am sure it did and I wish Marcus luck. I did a separate thread before I saw this but I have to wonder if he is going to Louisville? He would likely start there and he knows Satt well. I wish he would have stayed but I completely understand the move. It is probably in his best interest. This now make it more likely that Peoples could get 70-80% of the carries next year and go pro early. I think he needs to wait and see how he does and get a grade back from the NFL Advisory Board. The issue is that many of these players let agents and media influence their decisions and some of both are already pushing him to go next year with a good season.

Re: Decision Announcements
It appears to be a good chance that Hunter moves to center. He has apparently gotten some reps there in practice and it would make sense with his experience. You prefer to put an experienced guy at that spot if you can.NattyBumppo'sRevenge wrote: ↑Mon Jan 04, 2021 10:37 amAs of now, looks like we are only replacing 2 starters on the oline and SJC at CB. Re: Decision Announcements
He is a good back, but I can't see him being a likely starter at UL. Maybe get some reps, but I just don't see him as a feature back there. Could be wrong, and best of luck to him wherever he goes. I do wish he would be at App for 1 more year, as I think we are still think in the RB room for next yearAppStFan1 wrote: ↑Mon Jan 04, 2021 3:19 pmI am sure it did and I wish Marcus luck.
