Football Prediction Correction
Football Prediction Correction
I'm not trying to be a smartie or anything like that but I believe 9/14 is an OPEN date and 9/21 is the game at Elon. It's not earth shaking news but if any App people come to Rhodes Stadium on 9/14 looking for the Good Guys in Black and Gold, there might be some degree of disappointment in that group.

No way in HeII we score 35 on Georgia, I don't care how weak their D is. Not going to happen, sorry.

Re: Football Prediction Correction
We scored 34 on Michigan, but that was with AE, Dexter, and company. The UM game has no bearing on this game. I don't see the same talent this year as we had then, but I do see the 2013 UGa as a better team than the UM team we beat. It may be hard for us keep Georgia from scoring 35 on us before halftime, imho.kgblade wrote:No way in HeII we score 35 on Georgia, I don't care how weak their D is. Not going to happen, sorry.
Didn't read, but who says we score 35 between the hedges?

I haven't kept up with what is happening at Montana, but if we can stop the mobile QB they had last year and hopefully that manster rb that we could not tackle is not in uniform, I like our chances.WataugaMan wrote:Another correction: App will not lose to Montana.App Gomer wrote:I'm not trying to be a smartie or anything like that but I believe 9/14 is an OPEN date and 9/21 is the game at Elon. Re: Football Prediction Correction
That Montana RB was like a bowling ball. Really hard to bring down.
There would be shock running through the BCS if we beat Georgia. Might be hard to schedule as well,
but we would get so much respect it would be hard to imagine.

Re: Football Prediction Correction
Montana will be tough. They brought back in the qb from 2010 that led them to a deep playoff run. He was out last year due to suspension. He might be rusty. I believe...not sure though, that the RB graduated. I think App will win the game.

Re: Football Prediction Correction
Yep, I goofed on the bye week. It's fixed now.
The reason I say we score 35 on Georgia is because they only got five defensive starters back and their two-deep is very inexperienced. The game also comes after the Florida showdown in Jacksonville and before the Auburn trip, two of their biggest rivalries. I am of the thought that SEC offenses are rudimentary and that Satterfield will come up with an offensive scheme to give our team a shot. Jerry's philosophy was just to get the players the feeling of playing in those big atmospheres and sometimes played not to get hurt. The team has stated that their main goal is 12-0 so they're going to make a run at it. Plus, if Furman can score 32 in Gainesville like they did two years ago, who can't we score 30+ in Athens?

It will be nice if the planets align.

Re: Football Prediction Correction
I would love to see us put up 30+ between the hedges, but that doesn't happen often and even less often by non SEC teams. I just don't see us scoring on them that much. They may only return 5 starters on defense but the game is in November, every member of that defense will be very experienced by the time we play them. I would love for us to win, and I will be there if we do, but I just don't see us scoring that much on them.

Re: Football Prediction Correction
One thing we do have going for us is Georgia rarely sees the spread. This will be a bit different for them and something they aren't used to. If Satterfield can push the pace and creat confusion amongst an inexperienced defense, I think that we can be successful offensively. 30+ is tough to predict but its not a complete farse either I don't think.t4pizza wrote:I would love to see us put up 30+ between the hedges, but that doesn't happen often and even less often by non SEC teams. Re: Football Prediction Correction
If they were to beat Florida the week before we play them, we might be able to catch them with their pants down a little bit. Beating Florida is still a novelty for them and they would still be hung over from that. I don't believe we can beat them, but I wouldn't rule out giving them a fight.GoApps70 wrote:That Montana RB was like a bowling ball. Really hard to bring down.

Re: Football Prediction Correction
We lost the bowling ball to graduation, but we still have a stable of RBs that should wreak havoc behind our massive (and I mean massive) O-line. Our front 7 is also one of the best in FCS (IMO), so if it becomes a battle in the trenches, I really like our chances in this one.
Either way, here's to a great game, and I hope all of y'all who come out for the game leave with a smile on your faces, in spite of the result!

Re: Football Prediction Correction
Florida, Auburn, Vanderbilt, and Mississippi State all run the Spread in the SEC. Georgia opens against Clemson. Our game is sandwiched between two of their major rivals who run versions of the spread. I don't think they are going to be unprepared for a spread offense. That being said, I like the matchups of our WR's and their inexperienced new DB's. If our OL can hold off the rush long enough to let plays develop, or if Satterfield can mix the plays up in order to keep them honest....we might have a shot at some good offensive production. A few turnovers by the Dawgs would be helpful as well.Yosef wrote:One thing we do have going for us is Georgia rarely sees the spread. Re: Football Prediction Correction
That's true. We could very likely catch them in a "low" point in terms of intensity. Maybe that will lead to some turnovers or mental errors on their part. Being in between two spread rivals could mean the team thinks of us as a scrimmage. Hopefully that's in our favor.AppinATL wrote:If they were to beat Florida the week before we play them, we might be able to catch them with their pants down a little bit. Re: Football Prediction Correction
I think we are worried about the wrong side of the ball with Georgia, their entire OL returns, their qb is an allamerican, they return one of the top receiving corps in the country, and, I almost forgot, the have not one, but the 2 top running backs in the country. Alot of publications rank them the preseason top offense in the country. I think we will move the ball and score against them, probably in the mid to low 20's. But, atleast on paper, I dont know how we hold them under 45.

Re: Football Prediction Correction
I believe our WR's can play with anyone, but their DB's won't be inexperienced by the time we play them. They'll have 8 games against top teams under their belt by that point. Our guys are capable, but they'll have to earn it.Yosef84 wrote:Florida, Auburn, Vanderbilt, and Mississippi State all run the Spread in the SEC. Georgia opens against Clemson.
