Heard the story about ECU rolling in (mid 70's game) with normal gear and no jackets or ponchos (whatever those things were). The temps dropped and they about froze to death. I think we got that one.

The one aspect of the horrible weather that never ceases to amaze me is when guys here act like it's some advantage for us. We have 18-22 year olds, many from southern states who have rarely if ever played in crap. While we might get some practice in it overall I'd just as soon see 70's all the time.

Based on what some of recent games I have seen of our competitors 15,000 would look full compared to Marshall v UL empty stands. Coastal v ODU empty stands. GaSo v JMU empty stands. The last 2 were weekend games. Surprised especially with Coastal not having a packed house since they were undefeated then
And it was homecoming for Coastal. They simply don't support their team.
Actually while the game was competitive, there was a decent crowd there.

During my time in Boone (88-93), I saw it snow in every month except June and July so not sure there really is an "early" time for snow in the high country.
Same for 85-89.

April 3, 1987 47 inches of snow measured behind Gardener.

And I was in Gardner 305 that year!

I think our real problem with bad weather games, and yes I agree it’s not good for us, is we’re a speed team. Don’t think the cold on Wednesday night should bother us at all.

I’ve already packed way more clothes than I expected in the car. Felt like 30s while at a soccer practice tonight but was only high 40s with wind. I’ve been away from Boone too long and found a reason for not losing weight.

Took some customers to Lambeau on Sunday (my company is based in Wisconsin) to prep for this one. It was gray, lower 40's, 10-15 mph winds for the tailgate and the game and some rain blew in for a while during the 2nd Quarter. Sat in the 700 level and could see the autumn leaves from my seat.

I'm ready for Wednesday night (and added my Hot Chilis to my wardrobe based on my Lambeau experience)

Came to Boone last night and went to King street about 7:30 for dinner. Wind was HOWLING, flurries, it reminded me of my days in Boone '82-'86. As soon as we got out of car wife said I'm afraid I didn't bring enough clothes. If it's the same tonight and you are coming up you better bring layers.

My gf and I will be there. Looking forward to not sweating at a ballgame. Football weather indeed.

I want to say it was 85 when we went a solid week with wind chill temps that didn’t get above 0…I lived in the middle floor of a 3 story complex and the water pipes in my ceiling froze

It was 85 or 86. I had ski class (haha) and it was something like -40 degrees with the wind chill. It was crazy a$$ cold. I do remember it being that cold for at least a week.

It might have happened again in 85 or 86 but in Dec of 83 (over Christmas break) there was a week of sub zero temps. I came back to burst pipes in my apartment that year because there was an empty unit next door and the complex management didn't prep it for the temps

What we thinking attendance wise?

15K? 20K? 25k?
My gut says around 18-20k, just hope the away side doesn't look bad on tv. Be loud and stay warm!!! Students need to stay loud all night!

I'd say over 20k to start, just some won't be prepared for cold/wind and might leave at half.
