What would be your course of action if you were Satterfield?
I support Satterfield's decision 100 percent. We all want well-disciplined athletic teams at App. This was a teachable moment for Satterfield. In my opinion, he used it to the fullest advantage.

What I don't support is this message board's quasi-blogger blurring the lines between his opinion of how the issue should be handled and his own solid investigative reporting. Our blogger is green. Perhaps he'll eventually understand the distinction.

What I don't support is the "sanctimonious few" on this board who -- with very few facts to go on -- seem to have forgotten that there are situations in which college town law enforcement, embolden by their own absolute authority, sometimes pushes the limits of that authority.

I've never met Sean Price but he strikes me as an extremely intelligent young man who had a lapse (yes, his second lapse) in judgement. I'm betting most of us had several such lapses during our time in Boone ... with no consequences. Price doesn't have that luxury. He will pay a very high price. He let his teammates down; he disappointed a university, and he figures to lose perhaps millions of dollars on draft day.

It's time for a few on this message board to quit piling on.

Dude, let it go.

There is nothing inaccurate or unreasonable in saying "Price will likely be suspended." You sound like a basket case.

I just posted several times about how bad the police were in Boone, as I have done many times before. I still understand that pending criminal charge=suspension of player per the protocol of the ASU football program.

ya, there is no grey area here, he was publicly drunk, under aged, and started running his mouth, he admitted it, knows he is wrong, and he accepts his punishment, time to move on.

Agreed, it's done, time to stop beating a dead horse and move on. In the end, I think things will work out fine.

I actually like the fact that he has to earn his way back. If I am reading correctly, not only is he suspended, but until he satisfies the requirements to earn his way back onto the field, he will not be playing. Kudo's to Satterfield for taking immediate action.

Barnes scholarship should be taken away and given to someone who can use it...

78, I don't agree with the way social media exploits others and see your point, but I don't pretend to be the judge and jury for the judges and jury that speculated what decision would be made by ASU. Perhaps I didn't see the original blog post that caused this reaction from you.

I'm glad to hear that you agree with decision Satt has made, I wasn't sure based upon your prior post.

We build these Kids up way too much and should not be surprised when they F up. A full ride at App is worth about $60K these days and for athletes many of us help to fund that. How does it feel to know that Barnes was a beneficiary of your generosity? For Price who red shirted it is worth > $75K. Could his family afford that if not for us? I don't know but I am sure that is the furthest thing from his mind and to me that is the most disrespectful issue we have in situations like this.
Excellent points, I'll be in your shoes next August. Tens of thousands of $$$ for a college educaton, and some choose to not take the opportunity seriously.

Everybody has different background situations, but i'll bet that the ones that are habitual offenders in all athletic programs are already handed everything by our society. No respect.

IF HE IS PROVED TO BE GUILTY OF THESE CHARGES THE HEAD COACH AND AD MUST SUSPEND HIM.
AS MANY HAVE SAID THIS IS NOT HIS FIRST OFFENSE AND APPARENTLY DID NOT LEARN A LESSON. I AGREE A 3 TO 4 GAME SUSPENSION WOULD SEND A STRONG MESSAGE. BUT WHEN DOES THE SUSPENSION START COULD BE A SOFT SUSPENSION,,,,,,,,,IMO. THANKS JAY

Sit him for the entire season. Make the point loud and clear. It's not like there's a postseason to worry about until 2015 as it is, so now is the perfect time to bring the hammer down harder than usual to make a point.

Perhaps that would serve its purpose but that would probably be the harshest punishment ever delivered for such an offense. I'm glad the coaching staff hasn't indicated what the length of the suspension will be. I assume they want to know all the details of what happened and are not acting in a knee jerk fashion. Also, it would appear Sean's behavior going forward will play a factor.

It has made ESPN online: http://espn.go.com/college-football/sto ... -suspended

Are you some sort of a players advocate? I ask because every time an App athlete runs into trouble you are the first and by far the loudest voice admonishing people for their opinions. The clear facts are: A - this is the second time in a calender year Sean Price has been in serious enough trouble to warrant multiple game suspensions. B - He was under age drinking. C - He was being drunk and disorderly. To diminish this offense by saying "we were all 20 and made stupid mistakes" is insulting. I'm willing to bet the vast majority of people on this board and App State fans in general, never put themselves in a position to get hauled off to jail. Some of you guys talk about the Boone Police like they are the Gestapo. I've never had an issue with them, but I find that is usually the case for people acting like responsible adults. I've yet to see a police officer walk up to anyone without some type of suspicion. In this particular instance the Nazi cop who wound up arresting Price is a former ASU basketball player who tried to do Sean a favor and asked him to leave, since he was not directly involved in the altercation. Unfortunately Sean did not respond to the kindness and generosity of this black police officer but instead chose to unleash a barrage of - shall we say - racially explicit and offensive verbiage towards a guy who was trying to be a Good Samaritan and keep Mr Price out of trouble. Sean's outburst in front of all those people and other law enforcement left the officer no choice but to arrest him. Piggy backing off what someone else said it pisses me off knowing the hard earned money being given to Yosef buy law abiding ASU alumni & fans is being abused by a certain few individuals. IF Satterfield gives him another chance I surely hope strike three is the end of the line for this guy. Perhaps then a dose of reality will slap Mt Price in the face and he will make something of his life.

Something I have yet to see discussed is how Price's indiscretions shows a blatant disregard for the hard work put in by his teammates and coaches. When you are out there working your tail off, sweating, bleeding and hurting only to see someone very instrumental to the success pull a stunt like this how many times do you welcome him back into the fold? The dynamics of a team are very special and when someone does something to disrupt that cohesiveness, it creates a bad taste in everyone's mouth.

I wasn't going to post anymore on this topic but after reading the above story I would say this is the very definition of a watershed moment for Mr. Price. Football aside, hopefully this will be the lightswitch going on for him as a person.

There is an image emerging of Mr Price that is far from the choir boy who is only an innocent victim being singled out by the Boone Storm Troopers. Waiting to see the apologist excuses for this.

The details in the Watauga Democrat article disgust and embarrass me as an ASU alumnus.

All I can say is this is a defining moment for Coach Satterfield. He better draw a clear line and stand behind it because everybody is watching.

Price would not exit the patrol car "because no one said 'please,'" the report states

The timing was interesting both times. He goes an entire year, offseason dead period and stays clean, but pipes up during Fall camp a week before the opener? You were almost there dude! Again!
