We are in need of someone to take over the maintenance of the MMB. Yosef has done it for a long time, and we are grateful for all he has done, but life happens and he no longer has the time to devote to its upkeep. If anyone here is interested in helping to keep the board running, please let me know via DM.

Another Pointless Post about WKBC

Unread post by NewApp » Thu Oct 27, 2022 6:19 pm

Simple questions: Do we pay WKBC to broadcast our games? Or does WKBC pay for most of the costs. For instance, who gets the revenue from the commercials? Is it shared? Who pays our announcement team? Who pays for production costs? Who pays for travel expenses to other game sites?

The current radio network deal is with Learfield. Learfield does all the hiring and producing of the radio broadcast and travel.
All the radio stations pay a licensing fee to carry the game (fee deal can be a paid for some markets). WKBC would pay a little more to be known as the flagship station.

There are 2 types of ads during the games network and station.
The network ads are sold by Learfield and pay for the broadcast themselves.
The station ads are ads that are sold by the radio stations during certain times during the game to allow station to cover the cost of fees and station costs. There can be a shared ad revenue from station ads in leu of licensing fees.
That's what I do. I gripe and I know things.

That didn't tell a darn thing that most of us didn't already know. I was asking for specifics.

Your reply and BF'r's thumbs up mean absolutely nothing. They give that info every broadcast. You and BF should get a room.

Thanks appgrouch, that's exactly what i wanted to know. Still it would be nice to know the $ amounts, but that could be a grey area and ever changing..

It told you a lot.... it told you how to call the radio station and inquire directly as to how they do business..... seemed self-explanatory. I could have also posted the telephone number to the athletics department at ASU. they could have told you the information as well. You're welcome.

I'm sure, Todd, they would take time from their busy day to answer my question, that is after I left a message on voice mail and try to answer their reply while I'm driving 65 on the Interstate. Pardon or don't pardon the sarcasm. Did you and BF find a cheap motel room yet? Your info was of absolutely no value to me. As usual. Oh, and by the way Google this )(. If you don't understand this symbol, PM me.

Wait..... you won't talk on the phone while driving 65 but posting on the forum is ok? You lost me.... ....People on the forums also have busy days yet they (myself included) took the time to answer your question. I am certain that if you called the school or the radio station they would absolutely take the time to answer your question. I am disheartened that you feel their customer service is lacking.

Since it is done through Learfield being our contracted group for this, it would not be subject to the same disclosure rules as when David Jackson was the App Sports Network (and we could afford an 800 number for the call in show and tickets).

Nobody is going to risk being killed asking/answering a simple question or two on the MMB, but at 65 miles an hour on Interstate 73 there is a risk of injury or death. If you don't see the difference, I'm sorry. I have no anger. I just asked a simple question which another poster answered with almost exactly the info I was curious about with no snark and no google or phone number sh_____t. Read his post and you will see what I'm referencing. As to customer service. They have better things to do than answering a question that was easily answered in one post by a less snarky member of MMB.
Have a blessed Mountaineer day.

PS. The only anger I have is mild road rage when someone cuts me off in traffic when I myself am going the speed limit or slightly more and get to the same destination with only minutes diff. I used to gig them, but don't do that anymore. :)
