I guess it’s more tolerable than the kickoff chant “You suck a$$hole.” I hope that’s not a thing any longer. You’ll never hear me say either one.
Remember the comma after suck.
Good lord, yes! Fixed it “You suck
, a$$hole.”
That's how I say it.."You suck comma a$$hole"...get some looks from time to time.
I tell them..proper punctuation is a priority in my life...

Well it’s “Give em Hell” not “kick ass” . Can’t tell you how many people look at me when I say it.
You are correct!! Give em hell

It is genuinely funny how many separate times people have brought this up to complain about it, as if there is possibly anything new to say about it.

I dunno, I feel like this is an area that could be better managed by the administration as part of the game day experience. I think back to games at Clemson and LSU where their cheerleaders have a megaphone and start many cheers (on TIME, and NOT when on offense /rant). There's a component of reinforcing tradition while training new or less die-hard fans too.
I think the sense of belonging that chants and Bugler's Dream bring the whole gameday experience together for me. Always makes me nostalgic and hopeful in the summertime. It's why I always enjoy reading through as others give this particular dead horse another kick.

I agree, no cheer is a bad cheer, but am I the only "Give 'em Hell Apps" left? That's what I was raised on and it's unique
to App as far as I can tell.

No sir, you are not alone...and I have a few of the original bumper stickers to prove it!
If it happens to the Apps, it happens to me!

The one that fascinated me was the bumper sticker that challenged the "I'd rather Be in Chapel Hill" with
"I'd Just as soon be in Boone."

This one "Give em Hell" really needs to catch back on...IT IS A GREAT CHANT. I really wish it would make its way back into Basketball especially. The drummer used to break into it after the fight song. We really need to mic our band and especially our drummer at the Holmes center.

Remember the bumper stickers that Mountaineer Mania sold that were Carolina Blue with white writing and said : It's not my fault you went to Carolina."

They sold like hot cakes and were all over the state as well as "Drink No Shine Before its Time" A take off on the wine commercial saying something like "Drink No Wine Before Its Time."

Back in the early 80's , we also had the "Who needs the HILL (in Carolina Blue) when we have the MOUNTAINS (Black and Gold)" bumper stickers. Real snazzy.

Similar to Peacock's "Why stop at the hill when you can come up the mountain?"

Back in the early to mid-70s when yours truly was there you could hear the BOD marching to the stadium from I. G. Greer. The drum cadence was about 16-20 beats followed by a raucous and hearty "Give 'em Hell!" as they kept marching and drumming. Once in the stadium a lap around the track and Conrad Stadium was ready for some football!
We don't slide at Appalachian State. It's a sign of weakness.
