Always AttacK?
Always AttacK?
What a disappointment? The slogan should be changed to "Sometimes Attack". While I am as disappointed as everyone else with the way things have transpired in the first four games, this slogan has been especially problematic. Because we don't always attack. We sometimes attack. My wife who knows very little about football came unglued during yesterday's game. At the end of the 1st half, the Mountaineers have the ball at about the Buccaneers 40 yard line with 4 seconds to go and we run a DRAW play. You have a 6'5 receiver one of the best in the country and you don't throw the ball to the end zone and maybe catch a break!! I have also seen a couple of other posters commenting on the 4th and one plays. Put the QB under center. To me the 4th and one pass signified a "We can't pick up one yard on the ground" mentality. Please loose this slogan as soon as possible.

Re: Always AttacK?
Last time we threw a long ball at the end of the half as time expired, we got a pick 6 that was the difference between a W and an L against A&T. No. Of all the calls you could question, that's not one. And that 6'5" guy you speak of? He dropped an easy TD in the second half that was the difference in yesterday's game too. Nothing is certain.Spectrum wrote:What a disappointment? The slogan should be changed to "Sometimes Attack". Blah, blah, blah...I'm upset so I'm going to nit pick with the slogan. blah, blah, blah.
I'm sure it sounded clever in your mind. Maybe next time you should say it out loud to someone before you type it.

Re: Always AttacK?
Don't fret the slogan - it will soon be changed to "Always Under Attack". Our opponents are seeing to that.
Re: Always AttacK?
Disagree.
We should have thrown the ball in the endzone.
There wouldn't have been a pic 6 on a hail Mary in the endzone.
We played scared. Anyone would have tried the play with 4 sec to go with Price.
This is not the ASU that I once knew...
I'd have chunked it in the air. Pic 6 or not.

Re: Always AttacK?
App just needs to get rid of the slogans like "Always Attack" and "No Equal" and while they're at it ditch the "special edition uniforms" (the Always Attack in place of names was moronic considering App is 1-3). Get back to basics. You can get rid of the stupid player intros while you're at it too.

This.
We seem to have become all sizzle and no steak. Get rid of all the stupid slogans, all the cheesy intro videos, all the stupid piped in music, and get back to teaching guys how to play football and how to win.

Re: Always AttacK?
Who approves this stuff? They are incredibly amateurish and really quite embarrassing. We don't need cheesy slogans. What the hell does "always attack" even mean? I hated "no equal" even worse. God that was awful. I bet these things are on the bulletin board of every team we play.SpeedkingATL wrote:App just needs to get rid of the slogans like "Always Attack" and "No Equal" and while they're at it ditch the "special edition uniforms" (the Always Attack in place of names was moronic considering App is 1-3). Re: Always AttacK?
I hated the slogan when I first heard of it this summer and said so on this board and caught hell for it. The piped in music never bothered me that much before, but this year it seems especially annoying. Why play that stupid music over the band? But the most annoying thing of all is my new neighbor who thinks it's his job to tell everyone around us how bad we are after each and every play. I can watch the game without the constant and endless berating and criticism. I love App and drive up from Atlanta for almost every game. I am sure things will get better in time but so far this season has been a rough one as a spectator.

BOTH of you have hit the nail on the head. Few things about AppState Football seem to be about football anymore...appst89 wrote:SpeedkingATL wrote:App just needs to get rid of the slogans like "Always Attack" and "No Equal" and while they're at it ditch the "special edition uniforms" (the Always Attack in place of names was moronic considering App is 1-3). With the QB that was throwing off his back foot, or the one that can't throw that far? We lost a game over the call you wanted us to make.AppGrad1 wrote:Disagree.

I agree too. Back to basics. Learn to win, then we can bring some of the sizzle back.appst89 wrote:SpeedkingATL wrote:App just needs to get rid of the slogans like "Always Attack" and "No Equal" and while they're at it ditch the "special edition uniforms" (the Always Attack in place of names was moronic considering App is 1-3). We lost that game because from your own side of the field you run a dive or drop to a knee with 4 seconds left.GoAppsGo92 wrote:With the QB that was throwing off his back foot, or the one that can't throw that far? We lost a game over the call you wanted us to make.AppGrad1 wrote:Disagree.

When you are on your opponents side of the field and can throw the ball in the endzone with 4 seconds left on the clock you throw a hail mary to a 6 foot 5 inch tall receiver.
We played that play scared.
Does this mean we always worry about plays intercepted and run back for a pic 6? If that's the case we should always run the ball...
Re: Always AttacK?
I'll admit, since announcing Satterfield I've been worried about getting all flash but no substance. Some of this is due to prior recruiting, so I'm not blaming him for anything yet. It's early. Let's go back to basics a little with stronger lines, better tackling, etc. I know it's fun to have 10WR sets, but sometimes you need to be blue collar, boring, hard-nosed to win football games. Damn I sound like Coach Moore now... Can we go back to the 2006 team?!?

Re: Always AttacK?
You don't make that call until you are confident. Given what has happened this season, the coaches made the right call... especially since the play you are obsessing about had no effect whatsoever to the outcome because the result is completely unknowable. Having number 10 drop a sure catch in the end zone? Yeah, that had an effect on the outcome. Failing to convert a 4th down in the closing minutes of the game? Definitely had an effect. Underthrowing a receiver in the closing seconds before halftime for a pick 6 and losing by 3? Yeah, that's a disaster... and its not a hypothetical, it actually happened.AppGrad1 wrote:We lost that game because from your own side of the field you run a dive or drop to a knee with 4 seconds left.GoAppsGo92 wrote:With the QB that was throwing off his back foot, or the one that can't throw that far? Amen on the all sizzle and no steak. The best thing about our "gameday experience" has nothing to do with the actual game. Tailgate is awesome as always, except I'm seeing more empty spaces in the stadium lot these days. The pre-game buildup is good - players warming up, band pre-game show, national anthem, etc. What I can't stand is the obnoxious player intros and the loud rap music blaring in the stadium throughout the game. We do not have a college football atmosphere any more. It's turned in to a rap concert. If the players want it they can play the rap while they're on the field for warm ups but it needs to stop after opening kickoff. Of course all of this pales in comparison to getting our arses handed to us on the field. Sad times at The Rock.....

Re: Always AttacK?
There are a lot of people, myself included, that like many types of music including rap. But, with that said, I would prefer that the only piped-in music is when they play some Alabama, and other than that it's the actual musicians in the stadium--the Band of Distinction. I don't know if you agree as it sounds like you don't care if they pipe-in music, you just don't like rap.Mtneer wrote:Amen on the all sizzle and no steak. My biggest contention is that my two (almost three) year old is hearing those rap lyrics. I'm already having to explain the language in the stands... why do I have to explain an officially sanctioned song being blasted over the speakers?
Gameday is getting less and less kid-friendly.
