Have you ever been to a game at Samford? Wofford? You wanna tell me that the game day atmosphere at Furman is exciting? Get over it man! I'll take Troy over anything in the Smallcon .
Re: Can't go through life....
Look very forward to games against Sun Belt teams.
If we are going to lose, rather lose to them than a MEAC or Big South team any day. If we do not coach and recruit better though it is going to be some bad App State teams.

Re: Can't go through life....
On behalf of Charlie Cobb, let me say "you're welcome."
App has remained at or near the top of FCS for a very long time....longer than almost any other program. There is a point when repeating the same goal and maintaining our status becomes a very difficult thing to sell as a motivational tool. Human nature takes over. Call is "entitlement" or "ego" or whatever....teams start underperforming because they think the past will be repeated because that is what they have always known. That is why it is rare to see 3-peats. Even the top programs in the BCS have years of decline. USC was a "dynasty" a few years ago. Where are they now? Now it's Alabama, but they barely won their conference championship last year and they are hardly assured to do so this year.
The Sun Belt offers us a chance to CLIMB for a change. This is where the black & white thinking is completely off base. The reason that App and GaSo have "outgrown" the SoCon/FCS is NOT because we are so much better than EVERYONE else. It is because we have the POTENTIAL TO BE so much better than we are today! We need to remove the limits (or raise them at least) and set higher goals or we become a "maintenance" program. Goals to maintain or destined to fail eventually. If you are not moving forward, you are moving back. Appalachian need room to move forward!
I look forward to games against Troy, Arkansas State, Louisiana, LMU, Texas State. Even one of the "bottom" teams in the Sun Belt (South Alabama...as START UP program) played TN to a 7 point conclusion. That is the competition we need to move forward.
Go Apps!!!

When you take that trip over to Troy for the game let the rest of App Nation know - maybe you can all ride together.
