Re: Bowl Season
They were ranked at #18 when we beat them. Deserved or not , if they had gone undefeated , they perhaps would have finished in the top 15 and been the top rated G5. We kept them out of the Fiesta Bowl.

Re: Bowl Season
I have no issue with Liberty. Would be more than happy to see them knock of a P5 on this stage. Don't see it happening.though.

Re: Bowl Season
Sorry for what is probably a basic question but who is in charge of the playoffs going forward? Who will decide the format of teams? In other words what will keep the powers that be from just changing the format to require any G5 to earn a high enough ranking (like Cincinnati did) in order to qualify?

Re: Bowl Season
My understanding is the 2024 and 2025 seasons will have the 6 plus 6 model (or possibly a 5 plus 7 model since Pac 12 collapsed but not sure that hss been officially voted on yet). Any changes to the playoff contract going through 2025 had to be unanimously approved by each of the conferences (the P5 and the G5) as well as Notre Dame.Bigdaddyg1 wrote: ↑Mon Jan 01, 2024 2:30 pmSorry for what is probably a basic question but who is in charge of the playoffs going forward? It's unclear to me what the process will be from 2026 on. Whether we stay at a 12 team model that guarantees at least one spot to a G5 or something that more heavily favors Big Ten/SEC remains to be seen.

Re: Bowl Season
A team must win the conference championship so unless the NCAA allowed JMU’s waiver and the SBC changed course, the Dukes were not eligible for the Fiesta. While they deserved to play in a bowl based off on the field results, JMU made a bowl due to not enough eligible teams.
Liberty getting drilled at the half. Not that the Ducks need the help but the refs have been less than stellar.

Re: Bowl Season
I think the refs have been paid by Nike. Too many little bullsheet calls imo helped the game get away from Liberty.
The deck is stacked against us little guys anyway.

Re: Bowl Season
It should be enough to put all of conference USA in FCS and they wouldn’t even be the best FCS conferenceBoonegoon wrote: ↑Mon Jan 01, 2024 2:21 pmAgreed, my disdain for Liberty is very long. Liberty, UNC and Coastal are teams that are hard to pull for even if it helps App.

Liberty's arse whipping is a reflection on the level we play in like it or not

Over the last 10 years how many G5's have beaten P5's who finished the season in the top 10?

But let’s be honest with ourselves. The G5 team is getting their Super Bowl and the P5 team they play doesn’t have a lot of interest in being there.

Re: Bowl Season
Those Group of 5 Guys on twitter are saying “it wasn’t a blowout, it was a poorly officiated game”. I’m sorry, but those guys are worse than that guy who ran AGS for all those years who whined about FCS not getting respect. Liberty didn’t belong in that game, and it showed. I’m not saying App did, because they didn’t, but I guarantee there were better teams in G5 that didn’t get lucky because they play in and went undefeated in a glorified FCS conference.
Give 'em hell!

Re: Bowl Season
Right!? They all lost their bowl games to middling p5s . This year was not a G5 year, it’s not always like that, but this year it is.
