Ned. Sorry I missed you. I'm guessing I must have been at the bookstore. Come back for the Georgia Southern game. We'll have a crowd and lots of good eats.

Per his twitter DB Khari Blasingame (6′ 1″ 200) of Buckhorn High School in New Market, AL has picked up an offer from App. I have added him to the Main Page and put up a player page with video for him.

Khari Blasingame‏@Kb_bucks1
Just got offered by Appalachian State !

The Rivals, 247, and ESPN.com 3-star (with the best last name I've see this year ;) ) is showing additional offers from Mercer, MTSU, Minnesota, South Alabama, and UAB. Interesting offer since he's held the Minnesota offer since May and has an offical visit set for them on 11/23, according to 247. To say we're up against some stiff competition is an understatement.

As a side note I'm working on a new thread called "Commits". Got to change a couple of things but I'm going to be listing them in three sections. Firm, Soft (waiting to see who else offers would be a better title), and Liquid (those I expect we won't keep). I'm not going to use names, since people do read this board, but just put the number in each. I'm doing this because I've been following them for a while, have had a pretty good idea who fit where long before now, and I don't want some to say it's only because of how things are going that we lose someone. I'm hoping the Price situation will move some things around. I've been waiting a few days to see if it does.

I'm also expecting a new wave of offers to be going out soon. It's around now that it usually happens. It won't be as many and as fast as the first ones came earlier but closer to what would normally happen at this level. It's a long time until Feb and many things can change. Welcome to the wonderful world of G5 FBS football.

Hey everybody. Just got back off a long trip and saw we've offered JUCO DT/NG Mickey Stewart (6' 3" 305) from Highlands Community College in Highland, KS. I have added him to the Main Page and placed a player page with video up for him. He is showing additional reported offers from Arkansas State, Arkansas-Pine Bluff, ECU, Jacksonville St, Savannah St, and Texas Southern.

From twitter and internet reports QB Penny Smith (6′ 2″ 180) of Fulton High School in Knoxville, TN has received an offer from App. He has been added to the Main Page and a player page with videos added for him. When watching the hudl highlights you might have to keep hitting the play button each time he is circled in the highlight as mine would stop each time. I had to but it might just have been a page glitch.

This is an interesting offer. Just watch the videos and think about it. Just don't want to say anymore just yet in here.

According to 247, he may take his visit this weekend.

Both Penny Smith and Rollins their running back are very good. Fulton is the favorite to win state in 4A in Tennessee. Smith throws a great ball and can run. Good combination

FWIW, 247 has App State ranked #2 in SBC recruiting to this point behind only Texas State. We have seven 3 star recruits, essentially twice the number of the anyone else in the SBC. If we hold on to these guys (a big if) we could wind up with a great class.

When you said "player page" I initially miss-read it as "prayer page". Maybe we should set up a "prayer page" for a big run stopper/gap filler.

I think, right now, pretty much every player page, especially big OL and DL players, is a prayer page.

Ironically, the possibility of playing early may work in our favor.

It's being said on twitter, by his sister, that QB Emiere Scaife (6′ 2″ 200) of Mallard Creek High School in Charlotte, NC has de-committed from App and re-committed to Georgia State. She has been pushing him to do this for a long time. He stated before he was hurt that App was his dream school and was the reason he de-committed from Ga. St. to begin with. That was before his season ending ankle injury. I wasn't expecting many more offers to come his way because of that injury but I had him in the soft catagory simply because family can have a lot of influence.

The offer to QB Penny Smith 4 days ago did cause me to think a little that something might be in the works. So far nothing offical is out there so I'm going to leave him in the commits list for now. We'll see if something pops up on 247, Rivals, or one of the other sites to confirm.

my opinion, the biggest mistake a player can make in deciding where to go, is to let a family member have too much influence on his decision. Got to wonder with all the turmoil this season, maybe helped push him to GS, anyway, if he ends up at GS, wish him the best.

Not a turmoil issue.....100% guarantee....if he de-com's it is two fold....injury and family.

B/C he has lots of time to listen now!...and not practice!

Never heard of an injury causing a player to decommit. It's usually the school backing off after a player gets hurt.

As I said in some earlier posts I've got a list of all our commits and have had the list since before the first game (not including those, of course, who have committed since but they have been added) and I list them in my own catagories; Firm, Room Temp Butter (looks firm but touch it and it mashes soft), and Liquid. I've had Scaife in the RTB section because of his family. Like it or not family members have a huge part in the decision process. It's why parents come on most visits, especially the offical ones. And big brothers or sisters can have an even bigger influence since, in most cases, one has looked up to them all their lives.

I started doing the list for my own reasons but I've decided to put it up (no names, just numbers in each heading) just because of our season. I know no matter what I say or do that, when we lose someone, even though it happens all the time and will get worse as we move up, that many are going to lay blame on this season and on Satterfield, even though every player that has committed has praised him and the staff when they announced.

Not picking on you mohler-you've been one of the more level headed posters during this whole mess. But you did reference our season in the quoted post so I used it.

Some will know the list and will be able to back me up when I say I expected to lose this player or keep that one, just so people will know I'm not making it up as I go along. I'm just basing it on my own feelings and what they are saying to others.

Firemoose was right on top of it. Got in touch with Emiere, who confirmed that he has indeed switched his commitment back to Georgia State.

It was just a brief text message, no further details about why he switched but not terribly surprising. Since the time he verbally committed, the staff landed JP Caruso who was the top QB target. The offer to Penny Smith was another indication that he might be wavering because Caruso is a very firm commit who plans to enroll early and taking three QBs who weren't expected to change positions would have been odd.
