With SC - maybe it is just not a good fit for App at this time. Sometimes in life no matter how much effort you put into any project - it just does not work out. It has happened in my career. When things do not work out - sometimes change is needed. I believe SC will have a very long and successful coaching career. If it is not at App - it will be with another team.

And some folks just don’t have the juice to be head coach. I’ve only coached HS, and I’m man enough to admit I wasn’t very good. We KNOW SC was a great OL coach. He will be again. There are coaches at all levels who failed as HC and were excellent as coordinators or assistants.

I watched the ETSU NDSU. They went toe to toe. They have improved significantly over last year. Could he duplicate that for us ?

Tre Lamb’s scheme would do wonders with our speed and athletes. Kids love playing for him and he’s essentially turned around ETSU in less than a year. He’s my hope for next HC.

I think he would have a chance. It can be done in Boone even with a couple of the hurdles people say we have.

I would give Tre Lamb my vote. I hope we go rising FCS that brings all of their coaches instead of p4 coordinator that has to build a team of coaches. I would hire the whole package and pay them less.

I don't mind Tre Lamb. I'm still down for Mike Jacobs as well.

Tre Lamb checks all the boxes for me personally and is realistic. Although Garret Riley is my dream choice, P4 coordinators aren’t going to take a pay cut to come here. We have to be very honest with ourselves in terms of where our program is after this season. We are no longer a top tier G5 but I think We can be quickly with the right change.

Mike Jacobs has succeeded but he is also a former OL coach which could hurt him in our situation just because of Clark. Rarely do programs or professional teams fire someone to replace him with a similar coach.

Can we say we have speed? It seems we’ve abandoned that recruiting philosophy recently.

Good call out. We may desire speed, but it is all relative. In our last several games we look much slower than the competition.

Tre Lamb salary is $225,000 before bonuses according to Google. Would definitely be attractive for him for sure

Severely underpaid for how many hours he's probably putting in.
10 hours a day
6 days a week (I will give him a day off)
50 weeks/year
3,000 hours = $225,000. $75/hour. Ouch.

What was our GOAT HC salary before moving up to FBS? Just curious, I have no clue

Looks like Moore was $230k in 2012. https://www.hcpress.com/sports/read-for ... moore.html
Satterfield was $375k.

Completely different landscape of college football 12+ years ago. No portal, more time off, shorter season, don't have to recruit your own guys on the team...etc. While they put in alot of hours, I doubt it compares to coaching today.

and Taylor was making $260,000 (I think after bonuses) as QB coach at UVA last time I looked. Would he be a viable OC as this point in his tenure?

ETSU does not have history that we do....so, if you expand GOATs salary to current day and the fact App has been better program.... Lambs salary is probably about right considering where he is coaching. He would definitely make more at a G5

He’s not underpaid; he’s merely paying his dues. If his current trajectory holds, I imagine he’ll have several schools come calling who can reward him handsomely.

I'd feel good about wagering some cash at Tre Lamb being the coach here soon.
does he know enough coaches to put together a G5 staff? Maybe with his familial connections but bobby never coached above FCS and Tre has never coached above FCS doesn't have a long track record like the JMU coach. I definitely think successful FCS coach is the way to go though.
I'm not saying I endorse the hire, just saying that folks I know in the CFB bubble are dropping his name quite a bit. My guess is he would be interested and he's got some cache so it seems. I'm not opposed to it, he seems hungry

Lamb would , if there is an opening and he is hired , be coaching three different teams in the same stadium, in three consecutive years.
