Armanti Edwards Hall Of Fame Recognition Stunk

Unread post by AppGrad1 » Sat Nov 02, 2024 8:37 pm

Are you serious? He got a corner of the field not even close to the fans for his recognition?
This guy "IS" ASU football who had just made the College Football Hall Of Fame and you can't give him a center of the field reception so the fans could see him.
This was horrible. Terrible.

Our game day ops was terrible all day and we've always done a poor job of getting the crowds attention for these type of things.

Watch the game on ESPN+. If they do the halftime show in replays they do a decent job with a DJ interview.
This is my very generic signature added to each post.

Game day Ops are high school level. Speaker system sounds like an underwater submarine. The fact that we don’t have multiple speakers throughout the stadium and LED lights is baffling.

I watched a HS game in South Jawga (Lowndes v Valdosta) last night and they had LED lights flickering all night. A better atmosphere than a team with 3 national collegiate championships.

Agreed…start of 3rd quarter I asked the guy standing next to me if the ceremony had even taken place at halftime.

I recognize that things aren’t completely back to normal due to storm-related stuff and fewer resources being available. But that was completely embarrassing. #14 deserved way better than that.

Locally here they are starting to replace lights at each high school football stadium with those flickering lights. I typically don’t care about that stuff but those lights are pretty cool and helps with an overall experience. Sad that we seem to lack either the ability to add that stuff or have an administration who doesn’t care. We don’t even announce “scores of interest” anymore. I used to like the moans and cheers when teams of interest either won or lost during our games. We seem more interested or focused on goofy music and sound effects.

The crowd is busy gulping beer, standing in line to buy it, or pissing it out to get their attention.

I told my wife yesterday that AE should be honored at halftime at every home game. He means that much to me, this program and this school.

Because of what he did here (along with others of course) this school has received millions and millions of dollars and all kinds of recognition and we give him a corner of the end zone for his Hall of Fame recognition.
Shaking my head in disbelief....

I was at the game and completely missed this. There was no announcement (that could be heard) and certainly no fanfare for this recognition. Pretty sad if you ask me.

Why don’t teams do a very significant thing like this before the kickoff when virtually everyone is in their seats and you don’t have distractions. At halftime I agree, half the crowd is getting a beer, in line at the bathroom or simply not paying attention. It would have taken 5 minutes at best. I guess time rolls on and “legends” come and go with the generations.

The hug of Armanti, Moore and Coakley (I believe I saw this briefly) should be the next statue outside of the stadium.

Did anyone notice how ripped Armanti is now? If he was that big in college, maybe he gets a shot at QB in NFL.

I wish I could have seen that but he looked like an ant from across the field on the opposite corner from me.

I think Gillin has kind of phoned it in with game day operations. He talked a big game early, but it feels high school ish.

Side note, has anyone noticed we no longer play back in black before the entrance?

Admittedly didn’t see the AE recognition. But agree wholeheartedly with the fact that it should have been center stage. AE put us on the map and is in large part responsible for the propulsion of App State football. It took them waaaay to long to retire his jersey (and it’s still being worn on the field, which is so irritating to me, but that’s a soapbox for another time). We should be honoring him every chance we get.

Same thing with JM. Why did it take so long to have a statue built? Why was he alienated from the team for several years after his firing/forced retirement?
