Stink For A Bowl

Unread post by falcoapp » Sat Nov 23, 2024 5:54 pm

How do we matchup with them? If today's App St team shows up, we have a chance against anyone in the conference I'd imagine.

Hate it comes down to them. I didn’t expect to win today much like I don’t expect to beat stink. So hopefully I’m wrong two weeks in a row.

They have lost to some subpar teams but beat some really good ones as well.

one reason why we need a win so much next week.

Since my sophomore season in 84, we've had only had 2 losing seasons....last one was in 2013, Satterfield's first season.

That is an incredible streak....that's a whopping 32-2-1 record. Amazing. We have to win out to keep from having our 3rd losing season, and if we get a bowl, we have to win to keep the streak going.

Right there with you Captain. But the stink has a way of screwing up a 2 car funeral.

I’m glad they beat Coastal. Let’s deliver Marsha the East with a win against GaSo!

Last time we played down there as a matter of fact. Only the winner got a bowl bid. We lost, had 2 fcs games had to be 7-5 for bowl eligibility. Sloppy ugly game zero defense on either side.
We can throw out the record books and stats every year in this game.

Would be our second road win of the year.

A few weeks ago it felt inevitable that we would walk in Statesboro needing a win to be bowl eligible.

Seems fitting for this season.

Do we go bowling or have our first losing season as a full FBS member.

I wonder if there are too few bowl eligible teams (at least 8 teams won’t be going bowling because they’ll be in the playoff) if App would be considered, considering we lost a game due to Helene.

If five wins, decline the offer.

Let’s pretend that we would have beaten Liberty. We’d be 6-5, a chance to go 7-5 and in bowl game at 8-5. Not great, but stomachable. However, we still got embarrassed by S Alabama among others. Do we think next season will be different? Meaning are we ok with regularly being a 6-8 win team? We want to contend for conference championship and a chance for playoffs or a good bowl. Will this staff do that?

That was a good win today. We looked prepared and not deer in the headlights as in previous games.

That said, regardless of the final season record or a bowl win or not, I think we need a change.

Overall, I have only watched a couple of Stink games. In those two games, their QB looked better than JMU QB from yesterday from a pure passing standpoint and not as good of a runner but gets it done. But a small sample size. Burgess is better than any JMU WR. Similar to yesterday, our front four rushing will need to stay in their rushing lanes (which has not been the case on the outside all season). If we do not make Burgess get off schedule, he could have a field day. Got to man him up at line with other help. With that said, a balanced offense, like ours, can have a field day on offense as well.
Two of Joey's better passes were when he got out of the pocket. Would like to see that s little more....and RPO like a bowl game depends on it
I think we can beat them. I would much rather see the Herd in SBC than Stink if tiebreakers work in Stinks favor.

JMUs QB missed a lot of throws on the sidelines to open receivers. GS has a better passer.

Are you including 1993? That was also a losing season, with Satt as QB1.

Which App team will show up against GASO on Saturday?
Based on what they've shown us this season, I doubt anyone knows.
I do know that it gives me a migraine.

Someone somewhere else already did the math on this, and it’s highly unlikely there will be too few bowl eligible teams. Also, the quarterfinal and semifinal rounds of the CFP will be bowl games. The Orange, Cotton, Fiesta, Peach, Rose, and Sugar Bowls will all be CFP games.

A win in Statesboro would mean we finish no worse than .500 since we only played 11.
