I do not understand the enthusiasm for Lamb, who *checks notes* has a worse record than Shawn. Please: Someone explain it to me like I'm three years old why Lamb would make a great fit and is someone who could led us to championships and the Playoff (which DG said is a goal here!).
Because his last name is Lamb, and his cousin had a successful career at App, and App likes to reminisce on glory days and feels that will surely lead to success and everyone will love him. Except we just fired that same though process

Is Scott Satterfield a hard no at this point?
Gillin does not want him back and Scott would have to take a huge pay cut.

Todd Hartley? An animal on the recruiting trail.
Has been linked to FAU job opening. Currently makes $900k as assistant head coach/Tight ends coach.

Unless extremely unhappy....if I am P5 coach, I am not taking a G5 HC until my contract is up. P5 HC makes multiple times more money...life changing money for some

One of my favorites, Jerry Mack, just hired at Kennesaw. If Kerwin Bell doesn't go to Charlotte, would be interesting.

I think now more than ever, we need to look outside the App tree.

Yes. Can’t afford the buyout and Gillin doesn’t want him.

I could be an animal on the recruiting trail with Ga good ol boy network. All you have to do is sit down and say “how much? We’ll double it and our coach doesn’t care if you race your new dodge challenger”
Not sure that is qualifying someone to come coach here.

Why would he want a job in this shit show known as college football? He’s an NFL guy.

I don't want any coach that has just been fired from his last job. No thank you. I also don't see the appeal in Taylor's cousin over at ETSU, he has a worse record than the guy we just fired. I know some say that he turned programs around and he did finish 7-5 this year after they only had 2 wins last year (I think). However, if you dig a little deeper you will find that he only has 1 win against a FCS team with a winning record. His 7 wins this year are Va Wise (never heard of but not D1), Elon 6-6, El Cit 5-7, Samford 4-7, Wofford 5-7, Western 7-5 and VMI 1-11. People want to stress time and again the teams that Clark beat, well Tre hasn't beaten any good teams at all. HARD PASS on that one.

Just a thought but why not look at Montana State, NDSU, SDSU from the FCS ranks? Been really good consistently.

Porsche Cayenne turbos*** but yes, a little easier to recruit with those resources. He’s a winner though and maybe money wise it could be an option but maybe not completely realistic. Probably going to have to come from FCS level if we don’t think a P5 tight end coach could be a realistic option.

It was rare for any coach who has spent time in the NFL to come back to college as a head coach. Recruiting was a year round job they didnt want to deal with again. Now add in the transfer portal and NIL and it has become much worse. Most likely scenario for a return would be to a P5 alma mater. I also think the older they are the less likely it happens.

Is Kerwin getting too old? He'll be 60 by next season. A very good resume though.

Mercer HC seems like he’s worth a look. They’ve done extremely well.

I get the idea of a big time winning coach at FCS or lower divisions. I don't mind that avenue if they have won big on those levels, like Kalen DeBoer big. I also don't mind the idea of an older out of work coach that still has plenty in the tank (Rick Neuheisel, Dan Mullen, etc). I also don't mind a proven P4 OC or DC from very good teams that worked under great coaches. What I don't want is a mediocre lower level coach that people think is the next up and comer, if they are from a lower level I want to see dominance in their records.

Pre-NIL, this would be a good option.

Nowadays, unless you can find someone who has successfully handled NIL and the Transfer Portal, it's going to be a crap shoot.

Unless you take the Stanford approach and hire a GM, and just let the coach handle X's and O's

I was in the Kerwin camp back in 09 before the Drink hire surprised us all. He is a good proven coach, but I think we can aim a little higher now. Had he won a conference title or two at Western I may feel differently but he hasn't.

Jury's still out but Chesney at JMU had a pretty good year coming from DII. And, has anybody "successfully" handled NIL and TP? Whatever that even means. It's all a crap shoot right now.

If he had won a conference championship at WCU he’d be in line for the Clemson job. Winning at Western is hall of fame kinda stuff
Give 'em hell!
