Re: Dowell Loggains
According to one article I read, Loggains has been a good recruiter in the past. With his background I hope he brings in some top notch QB and receivers to the team. Maybe some of our players in the transfer portal will reconsider…if he wants them.

Thank you! A voice of reason.canes_mj wrote: ↑Sat Dec 07, 2024 6:12 pmI'm going to reserve judgement until I see the product on the field next year; going to give him a chance; we needed to do something, to make a change, and we did it; maybe this is the right move, maybe not. The vibe I get is this could go any which way; disaster, mediocre, great...idk. I want to see the press conference. I like what I read in Stonewall's post.
One thing I haven't seen mentioned was that while his resume hasn't had a lot of success, he was coaching for mostly bad teams. (Counter argument, they were bad in part bad b/c of his coaching.) But Bears, Dolphins, Jets...come on; who DOES win in those places? He did help win this year at South Carolina, which is about as hard of a place to win as anywhere.
This past week I've been excited about App football again for the first time in several years; booked hotel for Boise; going to take off work for UNCC. Let's give him a chance.

Maybe he is bringing Sellers and Offense with him. Would about guarantee a conference championship and playoff spot they won't get in Columbia. Funny to think about we have as much or more opportunities to get a playoff spot vs a good SEC team. Highest ranked conference championship or highest ranked G5. Opportunity is there.

Well, teller hates the hire, which means it was a great decision, because that dude is never right.

Drinkwitz Deja vu over here. I can’t recall a head coach hire that anyone said positive things about not any that were “big names”. Just support him as best we can so he understands our culture.

Can’t bring in a guy for an interview because “he just hasn’t won enough”, hires an OC with no head coaching experience at all.
Logic checks out. Never mind the fact that USC has been average, at best, until this year. One year wonder coordinator. What could go wrong?

Re: Dowell Loggains
In my mind, even if he wasn’t the most successful in the nfl… any SEC OC and NFL OC / coach should be able to out scheme every coach in the sun belt.
I’m starting to get on board.

Drinkwitz came in to a team that was poised to potentially vie for an NY6 bid in 2019 and did as was expected.Coltrane86 wrote: ↑Sat Dec 07, 2024 7:48 pmDrinkwitz Deja vu over here. This is different, because the 2025 team will have no expectations coming in. The foundation has cracked. If this guy rebuilds it, great. But he doesn’t have a track record of having to do that so I don’t have my hopes up.

Re: Dowell Loggains
Why should an SEC coach be able to “outscheme” anyone just because they were an SEC coach? App beat the “scheme genius” in Fisher. App beat Lloyd Carr and his group. App beat Mack Brown and his group. App has played James Franklin tight, out scheming them.
Has nothing to do with anything. I would like to have had someone young, hungry, and with a pattern of turning a program around that also happened to call his own offense and design it.
He may fix things, I don’t know. But if he does, it won’t be because he came from the SEC.

Re: Dowell Loggains
I admit I know next to nothing about him. I’ll also say that I’ve never seen so many negative reactions and so few positive ones on social media, sports websites, etc…
DG will be remembered as a genius or fool with this pick. Nothing I can do except believe.
UNCC is on the clock. Go App.

Con was waaaaay down this year and he still couldn’t get them in the playoffs. Couple that with the complete choke job against North Dakota state and his coaching job this year didn’t look that great. But you know better than anyone

Right. As will many others be with this hire of someone from mediocre U in Columbia. It’s ridiculous based on the information someone posted about why another potential candidate wouldn’t even be interviewed.yosef69 wrote: ↑Sat Dec 07, 2024 8:10 pmGood lord, you are insufferable.ericsaid wrote: ↑Sat Dec 07, 2024 8:09 pmWhy should an SEC coach be able to “outscheme” anyone just because they were an SEC coach? So yeah, some donor got their wish. Good. Good for them.

Re: Dowell Loggains
Guy who works for me is a SC Alumni/season ticket holder. Says he doubted him when he first got to Columbia but he “quickly” put his concerns to rest. Said he will do a good job here
That and the fact SC has the 3rd best rushing offense in the SEC gives me hope that he’s our guy.
Go App!
