Heard that Clark was a finalist for the ETSU job but didn’t get it.

Still think he would make a good OL coach somewhere.

ETSU called Clark, Clark politely said No Thanks -- never interviewed. Clark is being patient - has heard from 4 P4 Head Coaches - letting things play out til after Bowl season.

I think for him it is best to land a FBS OL job. He is better fit for that rather than take a HC job at a place that is a rebuild with their HC leaving. A lot less stress to just be an OL coach. I hope we see his name pop up going to a P4 school over the next 3-4 weeks.

Everybody waiting on the UNC assistant jobs first. Chapel Bill got a ton of money for staff.

Bill is calling a spade...a spade. He said he will build a professional franchise out of UNC. Now when are Legislators gonna decide paying teachers instead of coaches and using my tax money to support professional programs?

Are not most jobs open due to coach leaving or terminated and become rebuilds? In today's football to landscape, once coach leaves for whatever reason, a multitude of players enter the portal..
With that said, if I were him, I would take a P4 job, if offered. Supposedly, this was his dream job. So, taking a break from HC opportunity may be good for a bit.

That is true. I was thinking more in this case because ETSU was a 3 win team before Lamb got there and he is likely to take all their star players with eligibility plus most of the coaching staff and support staff with him on top of normal portal attrition.

Considering we are his dream job I am with you that it would be good to take a break for a position coach job for a while. Looking back on it I wonder if things had been better for Shawn had he started out as a FCS HC and been named our head coach after a few years experience as a FCS HC.

I believe he was on his way to Missouri with Drinkwitz when he got the Appalachian job.

I don't know for sure on that. We will see if Drink makes a move to try and get him now.

All good points. And after what happened up here, Clark being the HC over in Johnson City wasn’t a great idea anyway. Too close to App geographically, which would lead to too many comparisons of how DLO is doing vs. how SC is doing at ETSU. Y’all get my drift.

I heard Lamb would still be at ETSU In four years when App’s next hire hits it big, and then we could re-evaluate.

Oh wait, he’s in Tulsa, getting paid more, yet wasn’t even interviewed by App.

Logic checks out. What’s done is done. I’m not optimistic. Mediocrity breeds mediocrity. Make all of the excuses you want for why the entirety of the resume is less than mediocre, but you are what your record says you are.

Yeah that 7-5 record etsu had this year really jumps out. You still never address the choke job they had to miss the playoffs. And it seems like you’d be doing backflips your boyfriend is getting paid more at Tulsa, a place he hasn’t won anything at yet either btw.

When App, NC State, or ECU start taking the same approach, that's when.

It's inevitable. I never understood how so many people didn't see where "paying players" was going to lead. The old system needed some work, but NIL wasnt even close to a solid solution. It essentially killed collegiate athletics as we know it. They went from interns to employees (with no standards or regulations to boot)

I've heard incredible things about Lamb as a person from people that know him personally. I was open to the idea of him, but I also thought the hype was a little...exaggerated. perhaps in the old college landscape, he'd be something to build around, but I honestly lean more towards the guys who will treat this as business bc that's what it is now. Lamb is a "feel good" guy, and that didn't work here.
