Arkansas St and @ Southern Miss are our cross division matchups this year.

Arky has games Sept 13/20, Southern Miss is off the 13th. I wouldnt be surprised to see us @ Southern Miss on like a Thursday night the week of the 13th.
Based off last season, this should not be a Thursday night game.
In this day and age, I’m not basing anything “off last season.” Should a pair of teams that under performed the previous season warrant the national exposure of a midweek game? Ordinarily no. But who knows what each team will have in the fall.

Based on last season FSU should be winning it all now...

I'd say it's a guarantee App State is either at Southern Miss or JMU on Sept. 13 and will have Sept. 20 off before going to Boise.

If so, one win is obvious. Who do you say we lose to and who do we beat in the other three games?
I say we go 3-1 for sure.

We'll have to play a Sun Belt game on either Sept. 13 or 20, or both.

JMU is the only Sun Belt East team with an open date on either Sept. 13 or 20, and there's is Sept. 13.

JMU had away games before and after Sept. 13, so App at JMU on Sept. 13 would fit perfectly in their schedule.

App State going to JMU, then being off, then going to Boise State would be as ideal as possible.

FWIW, in the West, South Alabama is off on Sept. 20, but I doubt we play them. Southern Miss and ULM are both off Sept. 13. No one else in the Sun Belt has Sept. 20 off.
Per FBS Schedules, Coastal and ODU both have openings on 9/20, so it looks like

9/13 Could be JMU or Southern Miss. (either would be away)
9/20 Could be Coastal (home) or ODU (away)

I get our schedules are somewhat dependent on. Non conference scheduling years in advance especially if an SBC team gets opportunity to play a Power team. For conference games, I would rather play West side teams early so it is East teams battling it out late in the year to determine East side champion. If you play a West team late in year, there is a possibility that they play a couple of weeks later which is not fun and potentially impacts championship game attendance.... that, even when App hosts, does not sell out....or if it sold out, everyone did not show up for the two I attended.

Given new coach and it may take several weeks to gel, I would like So. Miss (Marshall South) on 13th...then the bye before Boise. You got at least 2 games of game film to analyze players in live action ..Concord and So. Miss. Linwood should be a glorified practice.
I like JMU and Stink as last two games as one will be away and the other at home every year.

Maybe five years ago. The cards are getting completely reshuffled every year now. I’m not nearly so confident anything will be a glorified practice.

Lose to Oregon State and Boise. If we can stop the deep ball we would have a chance against Oregon State. The QB that got from duke throws a great deep ball.

Very possible. I think we win one of those two to go 3-1. Interesting schedule.

The Dook QB can run as well
I will feel better about our opportunities to win once we solidify the trenches. If not one else commits for this portal period, I feel like we need to pick up some trench talent on both sides of the ball after spring practice. Going to tough on O and D if we are short on talent in the trenches.

Are you positive that he alone scheduled these games without imput from the conference?

It was a little shot at comments from the 2024 season that were critical of Doug for scheduling, especially conference games (which we know he has little input on). Basically I was calling someone an idiot.

Actually he is a bit of a statue which is why Duke moved on from him. Guard the deep ball and you can beat Oregon State .
