Brendan Harrington has announced his commitment to Georgia Southern.
There are certain things you don't do in life.....regardless of pay. I know people who built a thousand bridges but they boinked one goat.... they weren't know as a bridge builder.

He did not do this for the money. He thought he was worth way more than we offered and did not even end up getting close to what his NIL agents told him he is worth. Players need to stop listening to these NIL agents because they have no clue. Most are just trying to inflate the numbers because they think they should make the same money as NFLPA agents.
I an confused. I thought he did do it for the money.
He spurned us thinking he would get a lot more money but his NIL agents led him astray. I was told he tried to come back after he was not offered what he expected by others and we said yes if he would abide by certain conditions but his ego would not allow it so he went to Georgia Southern. If what I heard is true then Loggains was in the right here and Brendan needed an ego check. These players are being led by really bad influences who are hurting the players. He essentially went to a crappy place that he will need time to adjust to instead of staying in a place he was admired and had clout simply due to his ego.

Ok that is what I thought. So he was going for money it just didn't pan out.

Agents are leading them astray for sure. But a 25-26 year old man, off 2 major injuries has to know his worth isn't much. Young mans game.

You would think but athletes rarely are objective in their own money value. They often go by what they are told but those who are in their ear are off about 50% of the time or more.

If the department is not turning a profit, what is any player worth? If your company is losing money what is your worth? This all started out as " schools making money off the backs of the poor players". Well if that is the case why do we need to raise money to pay them? Just use all those millions of dollars the schools have made off these poor abused players. We took a real wrong turn and there is nowhere to turn around. Any correction you try and make now is going to have a thousand lawyers all over it. What a shame.

The absence of guardrails is a major issue.

There is an answer...The conference can stop it immediately with conference rules. NIL should be allowed....Pay for play should be against conference rules.

For 99% of players NIL would be pay for play.

IMO this is where NCAA needs to step in as the governing authority and have a certification process for agents so you don't have these bad actors going around.
I know they have limited teeth and don't want to get involved with NIL but you are actively messing with students educations here (whatever educations they still receive). We know this poor guy won't be getting much of an education down in Stinkville.

They probably do but are scared to like you said. We need legislation.
Not worried about Brendan’s education and apparently he isn’t either. He has been here long enough and players don’t need to spend 6-7 years in college. There are some legal issues that when they come out I’ll be glad he is down there anyway.

This is what I was alluding to in the other thread a few weeks back. I could not verify anything public but it seems to be growing towards public knowledge. Whoever has buried it thus far has done a great job because I spent a good deal of time searching. Regardless, I am in agreement that we are better off without him. Immaturity and lack of responsibility seems to be a major issue with him.
I am excited to move forward with the players who want to be here.

Is anybody else concerned about our RB coach and offensive recruiting coordinator having never coached the offensive side of the ball?

I wouldn’t say concerned because you just have to trust the football coaches know more than we do in this instance, but it is extremely weird. There is some risk having several first-time coaches and coaches working a position that is not what they normally coach.

Many coaches can coach a position they didn’t play or are use to. Shawn Elliott was hired by Jerry Moore as TE coach after he played DL and never coached TEs and then moved to OL. I believe in giving people a chance so we will see how it goes.

I'm not worried about his playing experience. That happens often. I am concerned with his coaching experience. He has a solid resume -- on the defensive side of the field. But, he's supposed to magically know how to recruit offensive players and a position he's never coached immediately?
Just seems odd to me. Not saying he shouldn't be given a chance. Just odd and concerning to me, so I asked the question if it was to anyone else. Sorry that doesn't appease you!

It is something to keep an eye on but honestly my eye is on all of it. I have seen it work out with some coaches before though so that is why I am not concerned until given a reason beyond the resume. Everyone praised Ponce and Sloan hirings and they turned out to be bad.
