Re: Roster/Staff Updates
You really think he would stay if Joey somehow beat him out? It would be really tough due to politics for Joey to beat Nico out and I have not seen anything from 2024 or any signs coming out of UCLA spring ball that make me think he has a shot regardless. You have to remember that the only reason UCLA has gone after Nico is because Joey looked bad in the spring and they believe Nico is better. With that said, I don't expect Joey and Nico both to be on their roster by September.scatman77 wrote: ↑Sat Apr 19, 2025 12:58 pmI told a friend yesterday and I'll say it here: don't be surprised if Nico ends up #2 on the depth chart.BallantyneApp wrote: ↑Wed Apr 16, 2025 4:38 pmHopefully he has a signed contract from the NIL collectiveAppStFan1 wrote: ↑Wed Apr 16, 2025 4:17 pmDon't feel bad for Joey. Re: Roster/Staff Updates
What exactly has Nico shown to suggest that he is better? His statistics were average at best at Tennessee. Nico was the college equivalent of the NFL version of Trent Dilfer.AppStFan1 wrote: ↑Sat Apr 19, 2025 1:41 pmYou really think he would stay if Joey somehow beat him out? Re: Roster/Staff Updates
Do you think UCLA would have gone after Nico if they felt Joey had more talent based on film and after seeing him in person during spring ball? I believe Nico is better and they went after him because they came to same conclusion.AppSt94 wrote: ↑Sat Apr 19, 2025 2:02 pmWhat exactly has Nico shown to suggest that he is better? Here are highlights of Nico and you can see he has better arm talent:
Nico had some bad throws but if he can become consistent and grow up he has NFL talent. Keep in mind that Arch Manning did not have monster stats at any point last year but he is expected to be one of the top 3-5 QBs in all of CFB next year due to talent.

Re: Roster/Staff Updates
Exactly. Just because he won a SB doesn’t mean he is one of the best QBs to ever play the game. Stats are part of equation but have to judge actual talent.TheMoody1 wrote: ↑Sat Apr 19, 2025 2:32 pmTrent Dilfer won a Super Bowl.AppSt94 wrote: ↑Sat Apr 19, 2025 2:02 pmWhat exactly has Nico shown to suggest that he is better? The worst version of Peyton won a Super Bowl. UTk had a solid defense last year.
Joey get your money and do your best impression of a 2nd team NFL QB.

UCLA is not going to provide Nico with a similar D that Tenn. Although not the best, UCLA will not be providing Nico with the OL that Nico had at Tenn. Will be interesting to see how it plays out

With the turnover at schools every year it is hard to know for sure but you could be right. Outside of a couple teams though he won't face many DL that are as good as the ones he saw in the SEC either.BambooRdApp wrote: ↑Sat Apr 19, 2025 5:01 pmUCLA is not going to provide Nico with a similar D that Tenn. Apologies Coach Belichick. I didn’t realize that personnel departments from around college football had you on speed dial for consultations.AppStFan1 wrote: ↑Sat Apr 19, 2025 2:40 pmDo you think UCLA would have gone after Nico if they felt Joey had more talent based on film and after seeing him in person during spring ball? Did UCLA go after him or did he fall into their lap because no one else wanted him? UNC took a G5 QB. Tulane passed.
Nico comes with baggage that isn’t talent related. His behavior of how he handled the Tennessee will not sit well with his new teammates. Foster needs to handle this situation correctly or he will lose his team.

Re: Roster/Staff Updates
I never said they consulted me. I said that because they happen to agree with the conclusion I have come to they chose Nico. If Joey was better than Nico then other schools would be breaking down the door to pay him 1M-2M but they aren't. If he was better than Foster never would have gone through all this.AppSt94 wrote: ↑Sat Apr 19, 2025 6:08 pmApologies Coach Belichick. Think about your point with the baggage. If Joey was equal or just close to as good as Nico then Foster would not deal with the baggage and pay more money for the player with the baggage. I just don't see UCLA going through all this and hurting Joey if they felt that he was anything close to Nico.

Re: Roster/Staff Updates
Are the people commenting on the UCLA message board allowed to watch practice? If so that’s highly unusual as I know we don’t allow it. We parked up at the A one time for just a few minutes during a practice and got yelled at from the field. We left.
