That is the vibe I am getting and it is good to hear and see. The prior staff cut corners in many areas for sure. One year they told some media people in Boone that running back was very thin all over and so after losing out on a dozen or so offered to P4s that we just did not go after anyone else. Anyone who knows football knows that skill players are a dime a dozen and there will always be talent at those spots. That was the first time I realized the staff was not using their time as well as they should have.ASUFan4863 wrote: ↑Sun Jun 29, 2025 1:41 pmThe past staff was lazy in more areas than recruiting. That doesn’t mean they didn’t put in a lot of time. I am appreciative of that time but it was not spent in the best possible manner. Loggains is running an efficient, hard-working but also high producing tight ship.

Going out on a limb here, I like to think I am more intelligent than an ostrich. I am not going to make any suggestions of transformation, integration, transfers of duties, and/or elimination of coaches, support staff or administration when I have not walked the hallways or in the shoes of professionals that are performing such duties. I would rather not be an Office Space consultant....AppStFan1 wrote: ↑Sun Jun 29, 2025 2:03 pmI would prefer we look at expenses and support staff before that but I would say look at secondary sport coaches and expenses if we are so broke. I know there is a lot we do not do so has to be something but if Gillin is not being proactive about it then I don't know how pressed they are to increase money to compete in the Sun Belt. I don't want to be a consultant either but I think there is nothing wrong with tossing about ideas. It is a message board. lolBambooRdApp wrote: ↑Sun Jun 29, 2025 2:19 pmGoing out on a limb here, I like to think I am more intelligent than an ostrich. Bless your heart. There is nothing to discuss. You posted an insightful article about a SEC school that was living fat and now has to trim staff because of the new norm in college athletics. It is not a situation that App is sitting in because as it was shown, we are understaffed as it is and those that are here don’t typically make enough money to move that needle. We can’t trim sports staffs or take away from lesser sports because those sports are generally working at bare bones as it is. We are four pages into this discussion and you still don’t get it.

It was literally an idea brought up since some of you continue to bring up the lack of funds. Compared to other Sun Belt schools we are doing fine. If we were in a dire emergency like some of you make it appear then Gillin would shore more urgency than he is now. We are in better shape than some of you make it sound like but I do know that we aren't anywhere near P4 schools, which we should not be.AppSt94 wrote: ↑Sun Jun 29, 2025 5:40 pmBless your heart. FYI, if you want to truly see bare bones then check out some D2, FCS, and even high school pages where there are people literally doing 3-4 jobs and don't have an off-season. I'm not saying I want to go that route but I consider those bare bones. lol.

I did not know how weak the salaries were across the board for the work they’re doing. Assuming these are all base salaries but still… This is sad. Our younger alumni, including myself, need to step up and donate/get involved and spread the word to donate. As the brand continues to grow, and legacies build, let’s hope fans and alumni become APP Fans and not APP fans that rep and give to Unc/Duke/State etc..

Re: Staff Reductions Coming To ADs
We talked about this when the house case was first settled. To quote myself,
"Just so people understand what reallocating existing funds means, potentially: cutting sports, cutting staff, reducing scholarships from teams that arent football and basketball, reducing budgets (both for teams and operationally), putting construction projects on hold, among other things that I'm not thinking of because I'm not Doug Gillian.
And then trying to add new sources of money- raising ticket prices, hoping playfly can increase our sponsorship values, doing something to increase our donor base, hope that Keith Gill gets his head out of his ass and negotiates a better media deal at the next opportunity, and yes, the gambling tax."
We've tried to do some things in the last few years to pinch pennies (bringing concessions operations and security in house come to mind). Broke all-time records in revenue from annual giving, licensing royalties, concessions and sponsorships in 2023-24 (according to the annual report. App hasnt released this years annual report). They opened up the legends auction this year to people who didnt attend the event and you could bid online. But money is still a finite and we dont have the money or donor base to support what some of you seem to think we should accomplish across all sports.
We lost our AD of marketing (she followed Ransdell to Missouri State) and havent been able to replace her yet. She played a prominent role in revenue generation.
I dont have any grand solution. I can tell you, asking our people to work more hours isnt it, even for more money (at least not for the type of 5-10k raise youre talking about). Thats how you lose people. Realistically, I think the only responsible way to cut staff is to cut sports, which no one wants to do, but might be part of the fallout from the house settlement. If you cut sports, then maybe you can cut some of the peripheral support staff (academic advising, trainers, sids, etc).
If you think Gillin isnt being proactive about money and fundraising, then I dont know what to tell you. The house settlement and fundraising is probably the last thing every AD across the country thinks about at night and the first thing they think of when they wake up. Every single athletic department is worried about money and how to make it and how to pay their athletes and their staff. That's what Gillin is paid to do. Maybe he can send you his to-do list so that you can approve it.

Coaches are being told to do more , with less , in order to meet the new demands of meeting a payroll.

I agree with you about the young alumni but one thing that is more prevalent with this group versus some of us older folks is the crippling debt that the price of higher education has saddled many with. Hopefully when that debt is gone, most will have the income and disposable income that App can benefit from.311neers wrote: ↑Sun Jun 29, 2025 5:56 pmI did not know how weak the salaries were across the board for the work they’re doing. These people really love their job and the sport. Some of these seem like minimum wage for the hours they put it.
$39k for a guy that’s been with us for a few years and probably in his 30’s?!
50 hour weeks, let’s say they get a total of a month off over the year at 8 hours a day on average.
320ish days of work x 8 hours = 2,560 hours.
$39,000/ 2,560 hours = $15/hour.
Maybe they get more time off than I think or maybe aren’t averaging 8 hours a day overall.
More props and power to them.

That is ultimately what I have said on here before we got Loggains that we still have to do more with less. I don't see us raising revenue a whole lot but we still have a high standard. Those who rise to the occasion and do more with less will see major rewards within 2-3 years as they will get interest from P4s with major money offers. If we win big everyone on the staff will see a payoff that is worth what they are doing now.

No. You said that you want everyone else to suffer so that football, and to a lesser extent men’s basketball and baseball can have enough resources to succeed. To hell with softball, volleyball and the rest because in your mind, they are irrelevant. Did you use those words? No. Is that what you meant? Yes.AppStFan1 wrote: ↑Sun Jun 29, 2025 6:21 pmThat is ultimately what I have said on here before we got Loggains that we still have to do more with less. Athletics is part of the college experience and does not exist solely for your enjoyment. Every athlete, regardless of the sport, deserves an opportunity to succeed and denying them less than the bare minimum, which many operate on now, is unfair.

Happens a lot in athletics. Long hours for less pay than you think. You have to really love it. Often people put in time for low pay like that in their 20s with the hopes to be making big money before they hit 40.311neers wrote: ↑Sun Jun 29, 2025 6:12 pmYes it’s a tough world out there.AppSt94 wrote: ↑Sun Jun 29, 2025 6:02 pmI agree with you about the young alumni but one thing that is more prevalent with this group versus some of us older folks is the crippling debt that the price of higher education has saddled many with. Re: Staff Reductions Coming To ADs
I don't want them to suffer but they should be bare bones because they don't generate revenue and don't get much fan interest. I know that is a fact because I can see the attendance in those sports and the interest on 247 and YC in threads about them. If football, basketball, and baseball all win big then no AD is going to lose their job and the program is going to make big money. Even if we won the national title in women's field hockey or men's golf that sport still is going to lose money but football makes money regardless of the record.AppSt94 wrote: ↑Sun Jun 29, 2025 6:23 pmNo. You said that you want everyone else to suffer so that football, and to a lesser extent men’s basketball and baseball can have enough resources to succeed. Cutting staff and cutting sports to the bone, assuming there is room to cut is not the answer.AppStFan1 wrote: ↑Sun Jun 29, 2025 6:27 pmI don't want them to suffer but they should be bare bones because they don't generate revenue and don't get much fan interest. I think we are at the NCAA minimum number of teams required for D1 membership or FBS membership, I’m not certain. There have been discussions about lowering that number which is 16 or 17 . Until then we will have that number. And football will be far and away the first priority.

Football should absolutely be first priority and that has been my point. They do need to lower the requirements for sports as that would help a lot of G5 schools a lot.Stonewall wrote: ↑Sun Jun 29, 2025 7:56 pmI think we are at the NCAA minimum number of teams required for D1 membership or FBS membership, I’m not certain.
