Re: If we win...
One thing that would help all Sun Belt members is for JMU to make the playoffs. Means a hefty stocking stuffer at Christmas for Sun Belt programs and one fewer bowl destination to compete for.

Re: If we win...
I consider JMU to be there with GaSo and Marshall. I would just as soon see the world burn than see either be a leg up on App. That is a rivalry at its heart. I am willing to sink if that means my rival sinks as well.
This is my very generic signature added to each post.

I understand the feelings but it would help App State financially so I am pulling for them.McLeansvilleAppFan wrote: ↑Tue Nov 25, 2025 5:48 pmI consider JMU to be there with GaSo and Marshall. Re: If we win...
Put me down in the pulling against camp. I doubt they lose anymore games but would receive great enjoyment if someone less deserving made it over them. I dislike them only slightly less than Coastal. GaSo and Marshall are our longtime rivals, but I have more respect for both.AppStFan1 wrote: ↑Tue Nov 25, 2025 5:57 pmI understand the feelings but it would help App State financially so I am pulling for them.McLeansvilleAppFan wrote: ↑Tue Nov 25, 2025 5:48 pmI consider JMU to be there with GaSo and Marshall. I agree. Hope they don’t make it. But if they do, I can’t wait for them to get beat by 50.

Our resume was better in 2019. But we did not have expanded playoffs

Re: If we win...
As of now, unless Tulane loses their conference championship, won't it be them? They're the only G6 ranked in the poll.
Also, to the OP, it seems like a crapshoot of which of those bowls listed in the post below you we actually go to. So many middle of the road teams.

Re: If we win...
Yep. Cash the check. Watch them lose. Build a team that will be the first SBC team to win a playoff game.AppStFan1 wrote: ↑Tue Nov 25, 2025 5:57 pmI understand the feelings but it would help App State financially so I am pulling for them.McLeansvilleAppFan wrote: ↑Tue Nov 25, 2025 5:48 pmI consider JMU to be there with GaSo and Marshall. Re: If we win...
If we have to play in a crappy bowl game, it might as well be the funniest sounding one. I'll buy that t-shirt. I still have my Dollar General Bowl t-shirt from 2017.

I just want to get the extra money from them getting in but for the record I want them to lose by 50.NattyBumppo'sRevenge wrote: ↑Tue Nov 25, 2025 6:03 pmPut me down in the pulling against camp. I mean when it comes down to it just how much would we get? I can’t believe our “cut” is really worth creating an athletic department shopping list.

Re: If we win...
To answer your question: About $214,000 ($3M divided by 14 Sun Belt teams) That’s probably more than enough to cover NIL money for the quarterback we’re going to need next season.
From the Great Google …
CFP payouts reward teams for advancing through the tournament, with a $4 million base for making the playoffs, another $4 million for the quarterfinals, and an additional $6 million for both the semifinals and the national championship game. Each participating team also receives $3 million per round to cover expenses. These funds are distributed to the team's conference, which then divides them among its member institutions.
Payout breakdown
Selection to CFP: $4 million for each of the 12 teams
Quarterfinals: An additional $4 million for advancing from the first round
Semifinals: An additional $6 million for reaching this stage
National Championship: An additional $6 million for each of the two finalists
Per-round expenses: $3 million for each round to cover travel and other costs
Conference and independent payouts
Conference teams: Payouts are distributed to their conferences, which then allocate the funds to member schools.
Independent teams: Independent institutions like Notre Dame keep all their earnings, which can give them a financial advantage over conference teams that have to share.
Example
A team that makes the CFP and advances to the semifinals will earn at least $10 million ($4 million for selection + $4 million for quarterfinals + $6 million for semifinals).
A team that wins the national championship could earn a total of $20 million ($4 million + $4 million + $6 million + $6 million), plus the $3 million per round expense money.

Re: If we win...
Not to mention all of the better recruits that would want to come to your conference because you have gone to the playoffs as well as better students to attend your university. It is a win win for everyone. No matter how much it hurts that it is not Appalachian. However, I believe we will get there because we have been on top of the mountain before. Our school is different because we are the Mountaineers. It is not just a metaphor or an analogy for us, it is real...AppGrad78 wrote: ↑Wed Nov 26, 2025 8:01 amTo answer your question: About $214,000 ($3M divided by 14 Sun Belt teams) That’s probably more than enough to cover NIL money for the quarterback we’re going to need next season.
