I mean... I've been to Columbia, and I've been to Boone... It might be worth a million dollars to live in Boone instead of the hottest, muggiest part of South Carolina.

Yeah that must be it. There’s no room for any points made regarding this season other than DLO is a coaching savant who’s clearly operating on a different level than the rest of us. The 2025 season was disappointing, but not surprising given the starting point and injuries on a team with zero depth.
The 2026 signing class was a success.
Portal loses on defense are piling up.
Let's see what our net gain/loss in the portal is next month.
2026 is a big season for the program.

Sorry, man. You are right that there are folks on this board on differing sides who refuse to accept the opinions and thoughts of anyone on the opposing side. Your criticisms are entirely warranted and valid; however, I feel like this specific topic is intended to be more light-hearted. We're talking about the UofSC QB skiing in Boone. You're negative comments seem out of place- not wrong!- just out of place.Seattleapp wrote: ↑Thu Dec 11, 2025 8:35 pmYeah that must be it. You’d complain if Sellers wanted to play at App State, even for a year?appdaze wrote: ↑Thu Dec 11, 2025 7:58 amHe's considered an NFL prospect even with his down year last year. If he left SC there would be plenty of cash thrown at him for beyond what we could afford.
Honestly, I'd rather us run with and develop that 3 star dual threat qb we recruited than even try to bring this guy on for a single season if he crazily decided to take our 500k over the 4mil+ he would get elsewhere.

Although it is not going to happen. We take Sellers 8 days a week and twice on Sunday. The guy coming in is a freshman. Does DLo have that long of a runway to put his future in an unproven QB right out of high school.... And pass on Sellers .. the fanbase would go nuts. DLo could not go out in public if he passed on Sellers. This is a "win now" business. If he passed on Sellers, it would be the dumbest thing a coach has ever done. I would want him terminated.
As stated in intro, it ain't happening... But if it did.

It is a completely pointless debate because it will never happen. We can't afford him and he would be crazy to transfer down.ericsaid wrote: ↑Fri Dec 12, 2025 7:49 amYou’d complain if Sellers wanted to play at App State, even for a year?appdaze wrote: ↑Thu Dec 11, 2025 7:58 amHe's considered an NFL prospect even with his down year last year. Re: Lanorris Sellers is in Boone with Coach Dlo....
So lets say we had the money to match what he was getting offered to play at a P4, or say we had enough for him to say that he would come here. Are you saying that App State is beneath everyone in the P4 and that coming here is a lower class of football? We did take Penn State to over time...took TN to overtime...Beat South Carolina....beat UNC.... Beat Michigan...... The only way to rise up is to shoot for the stars. Landing Sellers would be HUGE for App State. Sellers would still be an NFL prospect regardless of where he plays next year. We have had numerous players get into the NFL from our program so that shouldn't be a problem. The national attention would raise App State's stature in the media world and everyone would tune in to see what he was going to do here. So would it be worth it to App State to find some donors who would make it work? The benefits outweigh any cons for the school. The only cons would be with Sellers. If he loves Dlo, if he likes the mountains, if he likes a rabid fan base, if he wants to have OUTRAGEOUS numbers..... why not come here. I don't think its as far fetched as people think.AppStFan1 wrote: ↑Fri Dec 12, 2025 9:08 amIt is a completely pointless debate because it will never happen. A lot of college quarterbacks look good because of the players they have around them. That is why so many stars at some schools struggle so much when they go pro. The reason that some quarterbacks do so well in the NFL from smaller schools is because they had to carry the team around them.

Re: Lanorris Sellers is in Boone with Coach Dlo....
Your first sentence is why the argument is pointless and a waste of time. We don't have the money so debate is over. The only way that Sellers would come is if he got beat out at South Carolina and had some off field issues so none of the power programs would take him. That did not happen. I honestly think Loggains posted it knowing it would get fans talking and some naive fans would believe that he could show up. Congrats to Loggains because it worked. I heard that people were calling around saying they heard Sellers might be coming.ASUTodd wrote: ↑Fri Dec 12, 2025 9:44 amSo lets say we had the money to match what he was getting offered to play at a P4, or say we had enough for him to say that he would come here. To set straight your other points. You have to look at it how he would look at it as well. He has been a proven player in the SEC and the Sun Belt is in fact below the SEC and he is not looking for more playing time but simply to rebound at highest level of college football.
The money, facilities, and overall resources are what define what levels that programs are in. Anything can happen on one particular day so we pulled some upsets and came close in others. It is not like we were playing SEC, ACC, or Big Ten teams every week. If we did we would have lost way more than we won. You know the old saying that even a broken clock is right twice a day or even a blind squirrel can find a nut every now and then.
Someone accused me of click bait when I posted that JMU was in position to get in CFP if Duke won but it was not clickbait and had a real legit shot to happen as we have now seen. I even said I expected UVA to win but it was a second meeting and often times the team who lost the first one wins in the rematch. Plus, UVA was not elite enough that Duke had no chance either.

That is true. It is like the argument going on at 247 about whether Allen is the best QB in the NFL. Makes me laugh. Picking the best player is subjective and depends on what someone values. Playing in the NFL also depends on way more than just talent. It is the work ethic, mental makeup, scheme fit, and even how a franchise is run.AppWyo wrote: ↑Fri Dec 12, 2025 9:55 amA lot of college quarterbacks look good because of the players they have around them. Re: Lanorris Sellers is in Boone with Coach Dlo....
Just reality. Is it fun to start rumors of things that will never happen? There are actually people who see a headline and they start to think that Sellers might come to App. People were calling and texting say "did you see the rumor that Sellers is coming to App?" Loggains recruited so well that it has some people thinking it is possible. It is not possible. You would be surprised how many older fans and college students that will be fooled by that stuff.

Well , anyway , we are looking for a QB among the 20-25 we will portal in. It might also be that not everyone that has announced will actually leave. A couple do have substantial “ offers”.

Why not direct our angst and hand-wringing towards worrying about which players will actually be available for the bowl game?Cro-Magnon App wrote: ↑Fri Dec 12, 2025 9:08 pmQuote: “That is true. I am hoping that we can keep a couple of them plus retain some players who have not entered. Do you know exactly how much NIL we are spending on the portal players only?
